a little @dodopayments perspective is coming to @nikhilkamathcio's WTF
sharing my take on payments, building in the space, and what comes next.
here’s a sneak peek. full episode coming soon 🎬
🤖 Made with AI
got the access.... lfg!
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI?
I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev
• 20-200x faster
• 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free)
• Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions
AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

just shipped code-style-extractor.
it reads your codebase, reverse-engineers your actual coding style and generates a project-specific skill for future coding sessions so agents write code the way you actually do.

seriously man, I hate these
and worst of all, sometimes they don’t even allow/give the option to open it in a normal browser

charm pricing is now live on @dodopayments.
adaptive currency converts your price at live rates. accurate, but ugly. a $47 product shows as €43.12 today and €43.47 tomorrow.
charm pricing rounds that to a clean ending. the customer sees €49.99. and it stays €49.99 while the exchange rate moves.
you set one rule. it applies to every currency, including ones you never priced.
four rounding types: nearest, floor, ceiling, whole. nearest moves the price least, so start there. floor can cut a $47 price to $39.99, which is a 15% discount you didn't plan to give.
a "try it" preview lets you test any amount before saving.
two things worth knowing:
→ a charmed line is fees-inclusive. the customer pays exactly the ending they saw, so you absorb the conversion fee.
→ subscriptions freeze their rounding rule at signup. edit a step later and existing subscribers keep the rule they agreed to.

I just do :)
Daytime college, evening-night coding.
It's like managing two full time jobs simultaneously but it's deeply rewarding.
Been doing this for 3 years at 2 startups so far and will continue doing the same :)

hell nah
youtube employees don't pay for youtube premium 😭
actually youtube employees should get that as a benifit :))
A YouTube employee accidentally exposed themselves using a YouTube ad blocker.
You can't make this up.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

two milestones this week. billingsdk crossed 500 stars. dualmark crossed 100.
the numbers i care about more are the forks. 154 on billingsdk, 30 on dualmark. stars are a bookmark. forks mean someone pulled it into their own project.
we have 49 public repos now, and most of them have nothing to do with payments:
→ billingsdk. react billing UI. 500 stars, 154 forks.
→ dualmark. AEO infrastructure. markdown twins for AI agents alongside HTML for humans, picked by content negotiation. 101 stars.
→ chimely. self-hostable notification inbox. one rust binary, postgres, redis, drop-in react component.
→ context-mcp. self-hosted MCP server for your docs.
→ dodo-migrate. tooling to move off stripe, gumroad or lemonsqueezy.
we built these because we needed them. shipping them publicly costs us little and saves other teams weeks.
the rule we use: if the people who'd use it are developers who read the source and send patches back, it should be open.
our payment core stays closed. our merchants are never going to audit it, so a public repo there wouldn't make it safer. it would be theatre.
open where the community participates. closed where it doesn't. no ideology in either direction.
it's definitely a big lab.
100T tokens per day isn't a joke.
especially since multiple tools got it like CommandCode
