A true β€œhigh art meets pop culture” moment . When Rudolf Nureyev appeared on The Muppet Show, it wasn’t just TVβ€”it was history. One of the greatest ballet dancers of all time stepping into a playful, chaotic world of comedy and puppetry, proving that classical art can be both elite and wildly entertaining . A rare crossover that American audiences still talk about todayβ€”timeless, unexpected, unforgettable.

RIP Patrick Stewart. What an actor. I still can’t believe he agreed to do this scene. And he didn’t even mind when I ruined every take. Legend.

Best anecdote in Carol Thatcher's book about her father is when Sir Denis boarded a train at Paddington in which the only empty compartment was reserved for Rosewood Psychiatric Hospital. Denis travelled alone and in comfort as far as Reading when "all these chaps piled in", accompanied by a male nurse, who counted them before the train moved off. 'One, two, three, four ... who are you?" "I'm the Prime Minister's husband." "Six, seven, eight, nine..."

Given Trump’s latest tilt to supporting Russian dictator Putin in his failing war of aggression against Ukraine, we Europeans must step up to the plate. UK, France and Germany can’t allow Moscow to prevail. It would be the death knell of our peace and security for a generation.

Why do old people (like me) go to a garden centre for coffee and cake, or lunch? Easy to park. Free to park. No one working on a laptop. No one in a zoom call. No one playing tik toks on speaker. No one shouting into their phone. The guy on the counter isn’t having a phone conversation while he serves you. Tables are clean. Toilets are clean. Coffee is the same as most coffee shops, cakes are better.

"Cricket is a most precarious profession; it is called a team game but, in fact, no one is so lonely as a batsman facing a bowler supported by ten fieldsmen and observed by two umpires to ensure that his error does not go unpunished." ~ John Arlott

Discharged ❀️ Exactly two weeks after my crash in Shanghai, I’ve been discharged from hospital. Body strapped up with a bagful of medication, it’s time to continue healing at home. I will eventually make a full recovery from my injuries, but the last two weeks have changed my life forever. It has given me a completely different outlook and I will never take for granted what we have and the beautiful world around us. Leaving the hospital doors for the first time this evening felt like the start of chapter two in my story. Treat every day as if it’s your last, hold your loved ones close to you, don’t waste your time and energy on things that are irrelevant or make you unhappy and as Loek Hartog taught us all, look out for each other, as one team. Life can be short, so let’s make the most of it! Thank you to the incredible doctors, surgeons, nurses and staff at Shanghai United Family Hospital and thank you to everyone for your messages and energy you have sent me to help with my recovery. We still have a long recovery journey ahead, but at least I get to tackle it at home with my kids πŸ’™

The β€œCorruption Scandal of the Year” award may just have found its winner. JΓΈrgen WΓ¦ver is a Greenlandic politician. He is pictured here with his wife, Vivian Motzfeldt, who served as Greenland’s chairman for foreign affairs until March this year. She represented Greenland in the negotiations with the USA when Trump threatened to invade Greenland. The Americans appear to be quite happy with this family as JΓΈrgen WΓ¦ver has now received a house in Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, paid for by a group of American investors. The investors transferred USD 823,000 directly to the seller to pay for the house which JΓΈrgen WΓ¦ver now owns. One of the investors is Ronald Lauder whom John Bolton has identified as the person who gave Trump the idea to buy Greenland back in 2018. JΓΈrgen WΓ¦ver has declined to comment why he has gotten the house and what he has done or given in return for the 823,000 USD. We can expect more of this as the USA tries to buy or bribe its way into Greenland and I am not sure we can count on the Greenlandic politicians to resist it. weekendavisen.dk/samfund/ame…
