WICKED PRINTS

Here's my spoiler free thoughts for @MKMovie. Mortal Kombat II definitely captures the soul of the games. It’s clear the creators listened to the fans and that alone makes it hard not to love this film as a MK fan. Adeline Rudolph’s Kitana and Martyn Ford’s Shao Kahn were easily the highlights for me. Adeline stole the movie and Ford brought such a menacing presence with Kahn. It was also great to see Josh Lawson return as Kano. He's still fantastic with some amazing comedic line delivery, and Karl Urban’s take on Johnny Cage was a great charismatic addition. The fight choreography deserves a mention as well, most of the fights were outstanding and brutal as they should be for a MK film, though a few sequences left a bit to be desired in terms of execution. The pacing is breakneck for the most part, which keeps the adrenaline high, but doesn't leave much room for character and story development. I couldn't help but dwell on some of the characters and plot being wasted in the first film that could have enhanced and carried into this one to create a more comprehensive story and sequel. I found myself predicting beats more often than I’d like. Partly to be expected as someone so invested in MK but also largely due to so much being spoiled in the trailers. Several big surprise moments were completely ruined in the promos that likely would have resulted in gasps and cheers in the theater, but otherwise dead silence. That said, this was a very thrilling Mortal Kombat movie and felt like a MK movie! Definitely looking forward to a second watch and I think the rewatch value on this one will be high. It is a massive step up from 2021 which is a huge win and makes me genuinely excited for MK3! If I had to give a score, after first watch this was probably a 7/10 for me. #MortalKombat2 #MKMovie #MortalKombat

RIP Yoshihisa Kishimoto. His contributions to gaming will live on forever. Definitely a pioneer to the beat'em up genre as a whole. Double Dragon will always be one of my most beloved games. I'll never forget the first time I played it in the arcade and the countless hours at home on the NES. I finally added the original cabinet to my collection just last year and have been improving my Double Dragon game collection this year. He contributed to many other legendary games as well!
