Kelly Poppinga on Evan Johnson: 🤯🤯👀👀
"Yeah I don't think he's going to be gone for the season.. It actually turned out better than we thought.. So we'll see him sooner than later".

Notre Dame being above BYU was the easiest thing to see coming on the planet.
You see they earned that spot with their quality loss to BYU and their win over #25 Wisconsin two months ago

Our defense has taken a massive step backwards with tackling. What is this shit from #30 man?

Game-changers:
BYU leading 14-10, in scoring territory at the end of the 2nd quarter (and getting the ball to start the 3rd quarter), throws a pick which turns into a UCF TD to end the half. Instead of a 17-10 or 21-10 lead, BYU trails at the break.
After taking a 21-17 lead with a TD drive to start the 3rd quarter, BYU allows a 3rd-and-17 from the UCF 29 to be converted (for 56 yards), and that turns out to be the key play in a UCF TD drive to retake the lead. It was the first 3rd-and-16 or longer converted against BYU this season.
In 2OT, after holding UCF to a FG, roughing the kicker is called on BYU, and UCF trades three points for eight--the winning margin.
There were many other important moments, but those sequences were arguably the most decisive.

Why is BYU’s sack leader, Tausili Akana, being sidelined? He had a TFL with only a handful of reps vs UCF

At what point do you have a honest convo with yourself when you have now gone 30-5 in the last few seasons and achieved 0? You have played for nothing, won nothing, lost some very embarrassing games... At what point is that lesson learned?

Like, this just feels like another BYU year.
We're gonna go 10-2, be one of the first teams out of the CFP yet again. Look back and wonder how we lost to UCF (like 24 Kansas, 21 Boise, 20 CCU).
We're gonna be a 6 or 7 seed in MBB and lose in the first round.
Every year. Rinse and repeat.
Like I'm normally such a positive, "believe in your team" fan, and I'm just broken. I'm so sick of being the "almost" team.

BYU has had a negative turnover margin in four of its seven games this season.
After recording seven takeaways in the first four games, BYU has one in the last three (Notre Dame fumbled spike at the end of the 1st half last week).
BYU has gone three straight games without a defensive interception for the first time since November 2023.

Lost in the madness of the ending…
Evan Johnson suffered what appeared to be a pretty severe ankle injury on that two-point conversion. He had to be carried off the field.
