Ace Combat 8 really benefits from coming out at a time when so many people are burnt out on irony, constant snarky dialogue, and winking at the audience. It plays its emotional drama and anime superweapons very straight and trusts the audience's ability to enjoy that.
Aaaand we are down with Ace Combat X. The control scheme is truly something when you are trying to play it using an Xbox controller :DDD
You know what I like about #AceCombat?
It is corny as hell. Belka nukes itself seven times, someone builds a flying superweapon the size of a city, and some guy starts having a philosophical breakdown over the radio while you pull 12G turns. 1/3
And underneath all of that, it is completely sincere.
Ace Combat genuinely believes that hope is real, heroism is real, and humanity is stronger when it reaches past borders, flags, and old grudges to choose peace. 2/3
