The effectiveness of maxim guns was insane. Took the British only 4 maxim guns (only FOUR) to take down the mighty sokoto caliphate. Sokoto caliphate stretched through 4 countries in the modern day. A civilization that doesn’t take technological advancement and sovereignty seriously will eventually be subjugated.

This is anecdotal & without a shred of empirical evidence but it may be more than 90%…..going by the responses I’ve seen to @arojinle1 ‘s tweets…..😩😭
Did you know a vast majority of Nigerians — something like 90% — believe that there is some talisman that one could wear that repels bullets? It’s crazy, but it’s true. They completely believe this too, it isn’t ironic or anything. They actually legit believe it. For real.

Like there are more than enough evidences to disprove the existence of the bullet proof jazz or whatever it is, but trust them to always come up with one bs story or another . Soldiers that are battle tested have said bullet proof jazz doesn’t exist , we’ve seen police parade dead criminals with all sorts of amulets tied around their dead bodies but yeah , I’m supposed to believe a man in your village can make bullets not penetrate . Sure 👍🏼
If ayẹta and all these so-called fortification charms were real, our forefathers wouldn't have been enslaved. Colonialism wouldn't have been a thing in fact. Also, terrorists and kidnappers wouldn't find it so easy to raid remote villages, where traditional beliefs and practices are known to be more prevalent.

Just 3 days to go! 🚀 As we count down to #StateofStates2026, let’s take a trip down memory lane and look back at the 2023 edition. The report focused on Subnational Healthcare Delivery for Improved Economic Development, examining the role of state governments in healthcare delivery and its contribution to economic development. Looking back is important because it gives us a sense of how the State of States report has evolved and how its focus has changed over the years. Now, all eyes are on the 2026 edition! 🗓️ November 3, 2026 ⏰ 9:00 AM Join us live on Zoom: tinyurl.com/StateofStates202… #GetInvolved #AskQuestions

No buses, no shelters. Public transit in Abuja runs entirely on hope- hope that a kind private driver heading your way will pull over, and hope that you can survive the wrestling match with other commuters to snatch a seat.

Replying to @Anambrastate_ng
@Anambrastate_ng claimed the top spot in the 2025 State of States overall fiscal performance ranking, moving up from second place in 2024. That puts the state ahead of others in an assessment that examines how well states manage their finances across key fiscal indicators. Can Anambra hold on to the number one position when the 2026 rankings are released? Or will another state take the lead this year? The countdown to the new rankings is on! The State of States Report 2026 launches on November 3. 🗓️ Tuesday, November 3, 2026 🕘 9:00 AM Watching from elsewhere? “Staying alive misguided is worse than being killed”. So, you can’t just change your mind while alive?…..🤔
Replying to @shuaibumiqdad21
Any Muslim, who really follows the teachings of Islam, knows that staying alive misguided is worse than being killed, for several hadiths has pointed that being unjustly killed may elevate the level of the victim to martyrdom. That is, and has always been my point.

In March 2026, the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) reported that Nigeria generates over 32 million tonnes of solid waste annually. How we manage this waste affects our communities, our surroundings and the natural resources we depend on. This makes responsible waste management an important part of protecting our environment. World Sustainability Day reminds us that the choices we make today shape the world we leave for future generations. This World Sustainability Day, we’re calling on everyone to be more conscious of how their actions affect the environment and to play their part in protecting it. What have you done today to care for our environment? #WorldSustainabilityDay #GetInvolved #AskQuestions

6 days to #StateofStates2026! Before you head to the polls in 2027, take a closer look at how your state government is using public funds. OVER 1 BILLION PAID, NO SUBSTANTIAL PROGRESS ON THE RECONSTRUCTION OF RANDLE GENERAL HOSPITAL Dear Hon. @femigbaja and @NBRRI_Official, the people of Randle, Lawanson, Marshal, Akerele, Bode Thomas, Adeniran Ogunsanya, and surrounding communities deserve answers. The reconstruction and equipping of Randle General Hospital, Surulere, Lagos, was captured in the 2024 Federal Government budget. The project was also highlighted in our 2025 annual report after N210m was disbursed to it in 2022, yet no implementation was observed at the time. Shortly after the report was published, contractors arrived on site. However, the latest developments raise fresh concerns about the pace of implementation and the use of public funds. On 20 December 2025, N406m was paid to Lagfield Construction Ltd for the reconstruction and remodelling of Randle General Hospital, Surulere, Lagos. On the same day, another N399.4m was paid to Candon Construction Ltd for the equipping, reconstruction and remodelling of the same project, bringing the total amount disbursed to N805.4m. Yet, nearly a year after these payments, our monitoring visit to the project site in October 2026 revealed little visible progress, with the foundation still not fully formed. Meanwhile, since January 2026, staff of the hospital have been evacuated and redistributed to other hospitals and PHCs around the axis, further underscoring the disruption caused by the prolonged reconstruction. How has over N1 billion been paid towards this project, yet construction remains at such an early stage? What accounts for the slow pace of work, and when will residents begin to see substantial progress? The implications of this delay extend beyond the construction site. Randle General Hospital serves residents across several surrounding communities, and prolonged disruption to its operations places additional pressure on other healthcare facilities receiving its displaced staff and patients. There is also a financial risk. With inflation continuing to drive up the cost of construction materials, labour and other inputs, delays could increase the overall cost of the project, place additional pressure on public resources and potentially jeopardise timely completion. We therefore call on @NBRRI_Official and the relevant authorities to explain the slow pace of construction despite the N805.4m disbursed to the two contractors. N805.4m has been disbursed. Where is the commensurate progress, and when will Randle General Hospital be ready to serve the people again? Public funds must translate into tangible results, and residents deserve clear answers. With COP31 approaching and Nigeria’s budget and energy transition planning processes under way, the conversation around climate finance needs to go beyond commitments. Young Nigerians need to know where the money is going, how it is being spent and whether it is delivering results for communities. Tracking climate finance can be difficult. Funds flow through different institutions and funding channels, while gaps in project-level data and inconsistent reporting make it harder to trace allocations, track spending and assess the impact of climate investments. Young people have a stake in these decisions and the future they will inherit. At Green Accountability for Young Voices, we will explore how young Nigerians can use public data to track climate finance, scrutinise green budget allocations and hold decision-makers accountable for how these funds are used. 🎙️Speakers: 📌 Theresa Tolulope Gbenro, Youth Advisor, AU-EU Youth Action Lab 📌 Chima Ernest Okoli, Climate Innovator and Youth Development Professional 📌 Inyene-Christ David, Climate Justice Advocate and Legal Practitioner 🗓️ Thursday, 29 October 2026 🕚 11:00 AM (WAT) 💻 BudgIT’s Zoom If you are a young Nigerian, this conversation concerns you and your future. Join us to explore how young Nigerians can track climate finance and demand accountability. 🔗 Join Us: tinyurl.com/GreenAccountabil… #GetInvolved #AskQuestions #ClimateFinance
