Huge congrats to @AlexLWitt and @amitochu! Seeing you guys build Verda from the ground up has been amazing. Excited for what's ahead!
An update on Verda Ventures and our next chapter.
After three years of building Verda Ventures into a venture fund focused on stablecoin infrastructure, Amit and I are excited to share that we will be working with the team at Tether who was one of Verda’s LP.
As part of this transition, coinciding with the target investment period, Verda Ventures will move into harvesting mode. We will stop investments in new companies to avoid potential conflicts of interest while continuing to manage and support our existing portfolio. We will participate selectively in follow-on rounds of existing portfolio companies. We will continue to support our portfolio companies as they scale, including companies that have also received direct investment from Tether, such as Mural Pay, Finity/Plenti, and Lemon Cash.
As the leading stablecoin issuer, joining Tether is a natural next step in our mission to accelerate the adoption of stablecoins and accelerate the financial infrastructure of the future.
We're incredibly proud of the portfolio we've built and are very bullish on the 28 companies we’ve invested in. We remain fully committed to the long-term success of our founders and returns for our LPs.

How did @walapay_io raise its $4.6M seed?
“We did not take the approach of, let’s go raise a lot of money and then we’ll build. We actually started by building.”
“Over time, we gathered more investor interest based on the numbers that we’ve been putting out there.” — @thomasborgers
A great reminder that you need to know what you're hiring for
(And to not milk candidates like this)
Had an interview recently with a well established project for a social media role and got a take away task that will take "a few hours to complete".
The task entails:
- A GTM strategy for an upcoming project launch.
- A week's complete content calendar.
- Produce all posts (videos, images) for that week.
- Showcase all the ways I would grow the channels after launch (paid ads, partnerships, etc).
This isn't a few hours work and a GTM strat for a entirely new project launch isn't what a SMM should be creating, that's a Head of Marketing / CMO's role.
Not the right take. We should be focusing on growing the industry/tech rather than getting stuck on semantics.
If you are new to crypto and coming to @EFDevcon, simplest filter for quality:
Run away as far as possible from anyone who says Web3 or wherever you see Web3
Never underestimate the power of PR leading up to your fundraising efforts.
It's better for a potential investor to had heard about you than starting from scratch.

Trace Finance (@FinanceTrace) won the Grand Prix at the 2026 Money Awards on the @money2020 USA main stage on Sunday night. Proud is an understatement.
41 judges from J.P. Morgan, Citi, ING and U.S. Bank. One thesis: stablecoins plus regulated banks. businesswire.com/news/home/2…
Can we normalize hosting conferences in normal cities like Las Vegas?
We need to pick cities with large convention centers, smooth airports/transportation, and less traffic.
How is it that Money 20/20 has better crypto/stablecoin events than Token2049?
If anyone’s around, I’ll be at these events today:
📍Ethereum Stablecoin Summit
📍Stablecoin Speakeasy
📍The Onchain Hour
📍Stripe’s event
📍The Pacific Table
For anyone interested in the intersection between gaming and capital, stop by Xsolla’s event in Singapore happening right now!

Turns out the most in demand thing at Token2049 is seating
Everyone’s eating, talking, and working - all standing

Huge congrats to the Walapay team!
Big news: we've raised $4.6M in seed funding, led by @genventurecap, with participation from @CommerceVC, @0xPolygon, @AAF_Management, @VerdaVentures @NGC_Ventures, @FGVCapital, @JSquare_co, @reflexivexyz, @BigBrainVC, and others.
We're building global payments infrastructure from the ground up. One integration to issue accounts, collect funds, convert currencies and pay out globally with the licensing, banking relationships, and local rails underneath it all.
That depth matters most in emerging markets. Moving money into Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Global by default. Local to the last mile.
This round takes us further: more licenses, more banking partnerships, and a growing team to build it. Link in the comments.
If you're moving money across borders, we'd love to talk.
We're just getting started! 📷
Great episode!
The Cold Card hack drained $100 million. So who's actually liable, the wallet maker or you?
