Well done Sony, you've bypassed Xbox One 2013 fumble with your own.
An update from PlayStation Studios: After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to step away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT. We continue to have great admiration for Hideo Kojima's vision for the game.
Our relationship remains strong after three decades of industry-leading, genre-defining creative cooperation, and we look forward to continued close collaboration with Hideo Kojima and his award-winning independent studio in the future.

PlayStation's statement presents the PHYSINT split as a mutual "step away" after careful consideration with future collaboration expected. Kojima stated PlayStation unexpectedly notified cancellation in mid-June 2026, forcing a 3-month search for a new partner (Xbox).

LIGHTS OUT!
Japan, Australia and the rest of Asia/Oceania have started their #PSBlackout already.
No purchase, no playing, no log in on PlayStation platforms. Keep it up until they stop killing physical media and address the lack of customer rights in the digital space!
Happy #ShuAnnWeek, I didn't add anything this year, mainly because I was lazy, which obviously isn't an excuse.
But next year, will be my 10th anniversary when I first bought Persona 5 and got introduced to the whole series and of course, joined the ShuAnn ship.
I met and fell in love with the character of Ann along with all the other characters of Persona 5, and I haven't looked back since, nor do I plan to.
Next year, when ShuAnn Week 2K27 happens (hopefully), I will be going all out on all the prompts, wether it's cxmms or fanfics etc
I am forever grateful for this series and it showed me what it truly meant to have those by you if you're by them.
Especially for the character of Ann Takamaki.

"In other news, water is wet"
The gaming industry is not responding well to the news that PlayStation will stop producing game discs in January 2028. bit.ly/4oVYa3b

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
With the disappearance of physical retail sales, Sony would hold a monopoly over video game sales on PlayStation because alternative digital stores are not allowed on the platform.
Without alternatives, consumers will be forced to accept unfavorable terms.
