BREAKING: Rodil Zalameda is the new Chief Justice, replacing Alexander Gesmundo who will retire on Friday, November 6.
The 63-year-old Zalameda was appointed to the Supreme Court on August 6, 2019. He previously served as associate justice of the Court of Appeals, where he later chaired its 17th Division.
He wrote the Supreme Court decision that acquitted former First Lady Imelda Marcos of seven counts of graft after the SC ruled that the prosecution failed to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
He also authored the landmark ruling in Deduro v. Maj. Gen. Vinoya, where the Supreme Court held that “red-tagging, vilification, labeling, and guilt by association may threaten a person's right to life, liberty, or security and may justify the issuance of a writ of amparo.”

Yung penalty kay Ayo and penalty sa Ateneo are not really very consistent. Either aminin ng UAAP na they were too harsh to Ayo and lift the ban, or aminin nilang they were too lenient to Ateneo and suspend the basketball team. Otherwise mukhang may bias talaga.
