European Athletics Championships - over and out ✅ One of the most incredible weeks I’ve had in my career so far, covering a major championships on home soil in the UK 🇬🇧 Nobody quite knew what Birmingham 2026 would bring but the championships was pretty spectacular, and it was a privilege to help tell stories of the athletes ✍️ Spoke to everyone from Keely Hodgkinson and Amy Hunt to Jazmin Sawyers and Nadia Battocletti, to name just a few 🎙️ The video views have gone well into seven-figures at @AthleticsWeekly and it’s been a joy to work with such an amazing team 🙌 On top of that we have been producing content with @NBRunning, so stay tuned for more immersive athlete interviews this week 📹 Also took part in the media race and, two days after cutting both of my knees on a canal bridge (🤦‍♂️) clocked an 800m PB of 2:29.35 🏃

One of the best thing I’ve ever watched on Netflix. The writing is out of this world.

I spoke to Peres Jepchirchir's agent Gianni Demadonna about her positive test for EPO. He said doping control officers initially were not granted access to her house on the day of her test and had to call him before they could be let in. letsrun.com/news/2026/10/ano…

The 2016 Olympic marathon champion Jemima Sumgong and current world marathon record-holder Ruth Chepngetich are both serving bans. So it’s pretty galling news to see Peres Jepchirchir, the Tokyo Olympic and reigning world marathon champion, now suspended. athleticsweekly.com/news/per…

It goes without saying but this is a massive story. She is the Tokyo Olympic and world marathon champion + has major marathon wins in London, Boston and New York City. Tested positive for EPO before she won the Sydney Marathon on August 30.
The AIU has provisionally suspended reigning World and former Olympic champion, Peres Jepchirchir, after an out-of-competition sample, collected in Kenya prior to her recent Sydney Marathon victory, returned an adverse analytical finding for EPO. 1/2

I thought Harry Brook’s 200 was remarkable but it’s somehow been overshadowed! This chase is only bettered by that famous SA v Aus match from 2006, where SA chased down 435 in Johannesburg.
Sri Lanka have DONE IT 🤯 Liyanage smashes it for six as they complete the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history 🔥

The AIU has banned Ruti Aga (Ethiopia) for 6 years from 15 March 2026 for Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Methylprednisolone) and Tampering or Attempted Tampering. DQ results from 10 September 2026. Details here: bit.ly/Marathon-star-Aga-ban…

Michael Carrick now in peril but issues at #MUFC run far deeper. Glazers foundation for crumbling skyscraper; Ratcliffe gives unique challenges; Berrada, Wilcox + City links open to scrutiny. Only run of results since INEOS arrived is interim Carrick ⬇️ nytimes.com/athletic/7713278…

There will be no quick fix with Man Utd and the Glazers will have to sell the club, with a new owner wiping free the debt, for everyone to move on from this never ending cycle of inconsistency. But in the immediate term, after Michael Carrick likely loses his job, it is paramount Jason Wilcox is shown the door. A staggering amount of incompetence and poor recruitment from INEOS.

If this is Michael Carrick's last game, it better be Jason Wilcox's last at Manchester United too. His mess, his legacy, the team he oversaw, another coaching hire he was central to. A club run by cretins & cowards.

Rory Kinnear's prime minister in Netflix's The Diplomat has resigned midway through the fourth series because Britain having the same leader for four years was deemed too unrealistic. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

INEOS record at Man United: actively try to replace Ten Hag. Give Ten Hag new contract. Sack Ten Hag. Appoint Amorim. Worst league finish in over 50 years. Sack Amorim. Appoint the interim. Set to sack the interim. The positions of those decision-makers should now be untenable.

The United cycle is now at the demand for a glamorous tyrant - Conte - to show these players what real work looks like. That'll be followed in 18 months by a giddy interim spell by an earnest club legend - Johnny Evans - and then by an Ineos-coded ideologue with good hair - Howe.

How many managers will Man Utd have from now until the end of the decade? Another three or four potentially. The perpetual cycle of failure continues and Michael Carrick will be the latest to be sacked. The only constant of this chaos over the past decade is The Glazers. Appointed the wrong people below and continue to take dividends out the club, while the debt is over £1bn. I don’t want to say the club is unmanageable but good luck to whoever takes the role.
