For someone that loves Tableau and has had dealings with Oracle, "Salesforce promises to follow the Oracle playbook" is a deeply depressing headline. Buy companies with decent products and let them wither is Oracle's playbook. theregister.com/2023/03/06/s…

Is a Prime Minister without any ministers still the prime minister, or just the minister? @BorisJohnson #BorisJohnson

Just watched @BMooreWasTaken 's VizConnect presentation about curves. Deeply cool! Very well thought out, prepared and presented. I've never seen this material made so clear. Thank you for the time you invested in this Brian!

Thanks @NYTimesGames! You managed to carry my cookie across from the old site. Why suddenly change it now?
I just realised that my route to yesterday's now infamous Wordle 219 has a distinctly conspiracy theory vibe going on:
Me congratulating Olaf Scholz in becoming the next chancellor of Germany

... or maybe it was him congratulating me on becoming a German citizen when he was mayor of Hamburg. I get confused
It also made me appreciate the Germany voting system. The details get a bit complicated, but the vote is simple enough. 1 vote for local rep and 1 for the overall proportions in the parliament. Bens of first past the post and PR. Plus there are more then 2 parties to choose from!
And anyone could have given me a drink of water without getting into trouble. Fancy that! Sadly, it looks like Boris and his cronies in the UK have looked to the US with envious eyes. (2/3)
I just had the honour of voting early in the German election. Simply because it was convenient for me and the desire here is that everyone should be able to vote. It really brought it home to me how vile voter suppression in the US is. (1/3)
I'm pretty sure that this is a direct quote from a Chart Chat discussion early last summer xkcd.com/2502/ @HighVizAbility @DataRevelations @abmakulec @acotgreave

Me likey! Couldn't resist reimagining a classic - nice idea @_Lorna_Brown! Thanks to all the practice in the past, this was one of my quicker attempts. I had all the basics in about an hour. tabsoft.co/3gJ5Jc3 #WOW2021 @AnnUJackson, @ItsCandraM, @LukeStanke @HipsterVizNinja

Statista usually provide simple, but easy to read visuals. However, I think they dropped the ball badly on this one. The bottom bar, makes it looks as if they almost hit their target! Different bar lengths are unhelpful. Thoughts? Better solutions? bit.ly/3flu9rE
An interesting take on the importance of numeracy and very basic data literacy The Guardian: Do people believe Covid myths?. theguardian.com/theobserver/… via @GoogleNews
