The National Press Club congratulates legendary broadcaster and commentator, Tim Modise who was bestowed with an honorary doctorate in communications by the North West University this morning. There are broadcasters who report history, and there are those whose voices become part of history itself. Tim Modise belongs firmly in the latter category. North-West University’s decision to bestow this honorary doctorate, therefore is more than a recognition of a distinguished media career. It is an acknowledgement of the important role broadcasting played in South Africa’s passage from apartheid to democracy, and of one broadcaster who understood that the microphone could be an instrument of dialogue, tolerance and nation-building. Halala Bra Tim 🤏🏼
A day of gratitude to @theNWU for conferring this prestigious honour to me here in Mahikeng. This is where it all began for me as a young man from Garankuwa. I’m grateful to my family and all the colleagues that contributed to my growth and development in my professional life. 🙏🏽

Israeli fighter jets are flying close to Iran again now, after dozens did on Monday, keeping Iran on their toes before the actual attack begins Also today, U.S. embassies told staff to leave with their families (as they did in March when the war started), and troops are leaving bases in Qatar, Jordan and Kuwait I cannot believe I'm saying this, but unfortuantely, war seems imminent

🇺🇸🇷🇺 Witkoff to Putin: "Trump is grateful for your decision to remove export controls on Russian diesel. It's an example of us working together." Apparently, all it takes to earn Washington's gratitude is a little flexibility on diesel... Ending the invasion of Ukraine? It can wait. 🤷‍♂️ Writer: Samuel

No. They did not take advantage of Gautrain those buses are to big always traveling with few people. It could have been opportunity for them. They did not see e-hailing coming. All they know is fight good citizens traveling in their private cars. They believe in brawn not brains.

🤣🤣🤣 No way they can even conceive of it. I can’t wait. Imagine how much safer our roads will be.
Is the South African taxi industry ready for this? How are preparing for this mode of transport coming our way in the not so distant future? It’s going to be very interesting. Looking forward to it

🇺🇸🇸🇦🇦🇪 The U.S. just told Americans in 12 Middle East countries to be ready for cancelled flights, closed airspace and sudden changes to their travel plans. The alerts cover Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Israel and Iran, warning that hostilities could spread and that Iran and its allies may target U.S. interests, including American businesses. They also flag Houthi strikes on Saudi airports and infrastructure, and Americans are being told to keep a low profile and steer clear of crowds and anywhere tied to the U.S. The alerts don’t mean airports are shutting down, but when Washington’s travel warning reads like a map of the whole region, maybe hold off on that Gulf getaway.
