Atheists sometimes tell me I have to choose between God and science.
I do not, and neither do you.
There is nothing anti-scientific about the idea that an all-powerful, transcendent super-intelligence created the universe and wrote its laws.
In fact, it's far more believable to me that this is the explanation for our lawful, intelligible universe than the story I was expected to believe as an atheist - that the universe "just is" or that it's somehow lawful and intelligible despite having no intelligence or will behind it.
But what about the big bang? Is that a problem for a Bible-believing Christian?
Not at all.
Leave aside the age issue - which is frankly the least explosive part of all this - and consider how modern science has caught up with the Genesis narrative in the last 100 years. Modern science has figured out that the universe isn't eternal, as people thought for thousands of years, but suddenly came into being a finite time ago just as Genesis 1:1 describes.
I do not have to give up God to believe that. In fact, as a scientist, it's the only way I can make sense of why the universe exists at all and is the way it is.
Don't let anyone tell you that you have to choose between God's two books - the Bible and his creation. They are wonderfully compatible.

This book was a lifetime in the making—and then it became something I never planned.
I spent years researching a science-apologetics book. It was my entire life. But when it came time to write, I just didn’t have the heart for it. Years of trials had left me feeling dry and weary. I didn’t want to argue about God. Instead, I wanted to sit with Him.
Every time I looked at incredible images of the heavens, I felt renewed. I felt close to Him. I thought about what the heavens were declaring about Him. So I asked a different question: What do the heavens actually tell us about His nature, His character, and His love?
I started off writing a simple devotional, but it turned into something more: equal parts Bible study, personal reflection, and astronomy lesson—with a little history stitched in—along with over 100 stunning images of God’s handiwork in the cosmos.
I love it, and I think you'll love it, too.
The Heavens Declare is out November 3 from Moody Publishers, with a foreword by Lee Strobel.

🚨🥇 My Day 0 Olympics viewing guide!
We are BACK! I’ll make these for the next 17 days.
Last time around people found them really helpful. The Winter Olympics schedule is more manageable than Summer, but if you like them please help share.

A lot of folks assume that many Protestant denominations will just slowly decline over the next few decades.
That's not what is going to happen.
The Boomers are propping most of them up right now.
When they age out, it's gonna get bad. Really fast. No one is ready.

Don’t look away.
This is mass murder on a scale that the world hasn't seen in a long, long time.
Do whatever you can to help the Iranian people.

Calling on all activists and allies: KEEP POSTING EVERYTHING FROM IRAN.
Tag @realdonaldtrump.
President Trump — this is your moment.
Speak directly to the people of Iran.
From the Oval Office.
And speak to the transitional leadership of the revolution, @officialrezapahlavi.
⸻
WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW
•A near-total internet blackout is in effect.
•Millions are in the streets, day and night.
•This is a nationwide uprising, unprecedented in scale.
•Electricity and phone lines are down, hospitals can’t call for backup — yet the people are lighting up the streets themselves.
•The regime is running out of forces and is importing proxy militias from Iraq and Lebanon — and still, the people do not retreat.
Iranians stand with courage, discipline, and unity.
⸻
THE WORLD MUST ACT — NOW
The people vastly outnumber the regime.
If the world looks away, mass atrocities will follow.
International pressure is not interference — it is protection.
Reports continue of entire cities liberated, including large parts of Lorestan.
⸻
THE TRUTH IS GETTING OUT
Citizen journalists are risking their lives because no international media is on the ground.
They are the eyes of the world.

MESSAGE TO OUR FRONTLINE
To the people on the ground and the revolutionary networks inside Iran:
You are prepared.
You are organized.
You are making history.
The world is watching — in awe of your bravery and heroism.
Help is on the way.
Continue what you already know how to do:
reclaim street after street, square after square, cities, provinces, all the way to the final stage:
Entering every ministry of the Ayatollah occupation and reclaiming it for the people of Iran.
This is not chaos.
This is a liberation movement.
And nothing —NOTHING— can stop a nation of lions and lionesses from being FREE.
