Back when @andyburnham had an "honest conversation" about Brexit...
There is nothing socialist about a system of free movement that is used by multi-nationals to undermine wages. WATCH my Brexit speech today.

Burnham blames Brexit for small boat arrivals, his own Home Secretary says that is nonsense.
Interesting difference between the PM and his Home Secretary over Brexit and small boats. Andy Burnham today blamed the crisis on Britain losing its EU returns agreement after Brexit but Shabana Mahmood has previously rejected that argument. She told the Home Affairs Committee in February: "I am sure there are lots of other debates to be had about the rights and wrongs of Brexit, but is Brexit responsible for the boats? I do not think that is true... “The idea that this has happened because we have lost the access to Dublin and the returns agreement with the EU - I think that is too much of a stretch.” In September, she went further, arguing that under Britain's one-in, one-out deal with France “more returns have happened than ever was the case under the Dublin arrangements, when we were still members of the EU". She also warned that it was “a mistake to see the EU’s new pact as some sort of new silver bullet” that would eliminate Britain's migration problems.

Good spot by Martina... 👇 In short, Andy Burnham's attempt to blame Brexit for the small boats crisis contradicts what his own Home Secretary has said 🤔

Yesterday evening, he shared the practice court with an old friend and rival, Stan Wawrinka. Two of the greatest to ever play the sport, with 27 Grand Slam titles between them. With Stan playing the final tournament of his career, it felt like one last dance on the practice court. 🤝”

Bill Maher nails it on Britain’s welfare addiction here. “The UK has had seven Prime Ministers in ten years. That’s because no politician can be what the people want: a genius who figures out how to give out endlessly more money with ever less working people.”

But ... but .. Brexit.. it would be so much better being part of the EU!!. Incredible our PM and others truly believe so...
Europe is angry. Rents are soaring. Energy prices are rising, fueling pain at the pump and inflation. Growth is stagnating. And borrowing costs are climbing in France, Italy, Spain and Greece. 🔗 politico.eu/article/a-danger…

The Laffer Curve strikes again. Rachel Reeves’s absurd increases to stamp duty have backfired after tax receipts from property sales above £5m fell by £541m in the 18 months following her 2024 budget when she raised the second-home stamp duty surcharge to 5%. Data from estate agents Knight Frank show that in the 18 months subsequent to the budget, the number of sales above £5m dropped by 14% from 2,569 to 2,208, when compared with the 18 months before the budget. Of course it is not just the stamp duty that is lost but also the economic activity that accompanies the property transactions. Reeves has just signed up to the Chartwell Speakers agency to sell speeches for money. Surely for anyone to buy a speech from her is a badge of idiocy?

Elizabeth Warren MELTS DOWN after her hypocrisy is exposed. She wants money out of politics. Unless it's Democrats taking hundreds of millions from billionaires. Then she's offended you would dare ask the question. Rules for thee but not for me. 👇

🚨Sneaked out by OFGEM this morning, a warning for the first time EVER they cannot guarantee that demand will be met on a peak day in winter. Let’s be clear what that means. They cannot guarantee that homes will be warm, lights come on or industry function on a peak day this winter. And why? Because of an accelerated decline in domestic gas supply from the North Sea. So what is the solution? For British bill payers to pay more, to IMPORT more from Europe (specifically Belgium) to keep the lights on in Britain. Britain. A country with vast supplies of gas, untapped, deliberately due to Labour policy now going cap in hand to Europe and paying vast sums to import foreign gas. It is utterly outrageous. You couldn’t make it up. ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/f…

Ofgem has issued an unprecedented warning that it cannot guarantee Britain’s energy demand will be met during peak winter conditions. Heat, power, & light: all at risk due to potential gas shortages in a country blessed with deep gas reserves - untapped & left dormant due to political choice. British consumers & businesses will now pay an even higher price for increased dependence on foreign supply. This is an unacceptable failure of energy policy & national energy security. ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/f…

France’s mounting debt is a European problem, not just a French one. If its finances deteriorate further, the repercussions could spread to Germany and other EU economies. Why would rejoining be a priority right now when the economic risks are still unfolding before us?
Brexit was the greatest act of economic self-harm in our country’s history. I’ve calling on the government for closer ties with Europe to help businesses grow, lower costs and improve living standards. Rejoining the EU must remain our destination. standard.co.uk/news/politics…
