DAY 2: UGANDA–KENYA COAST TOURISM & INNOVATION SUMMIT 2026 The 2nd session was on "Smart Destinations: Data-Driven Destination Management & the Future of the Uganda-Kenya Coast Corridor" tackled how regional synergy and data can reshape East African travel. Top Takeaways: - Package Cultural Heritage: Curate rich, authentic cultural experiences for visitors across borders. - Joint Data Policies: Build unified frameworks and policies for seamless cross-border data collection. - KTB x UTB Alignment: Strategic partnership and connection between the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) and Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) are actively being pursued! - Complementary Growth: Harness joint strengths to support—rather than compete with—one another. #UGKenyaCoastTourismSummit
DAY 2 (FINAL DAY): UGANDA–KENYA COAST TOURISM & INNOVATION SUMMIT 2026 Day Two launched with the Young Innovators Showcase, spotlighting Soko Guide with Founder & CEO Peter Nyaga! Next up was a powerful panel on "Tourism, Technology & Investment", focusing on how tech-enabled platforms and connectivity are unlocking investable opportunities across our borders. Top Takeaways: • Unique Destinations: Curate signature, distinct experiences for both Uganda and Kenya. • Tech as an Enabler: Harness digital infrastructure to build a sustainable tourism future. • Own the Narrative: Africa’s potential is undeniable. We must tell our own stories instead of relying on external voices. As Allan Kasujja put it: "Tell the story, love your country." • Promote Positivity: Stop the spread of negative rhetoric about our home countries. • Shift to Ownership: Move beyond being consumers—let’s own and build the ecosystem! #UGKenyaCoastTourismSummit

Uganda Airlines takes off inaugural flight to Accra, Ghana. This is an intentional increase in the direct routes we operate. As we prepare for the upcoming AFCON, such moves are opening up doors. But also generally linking up destinations. Kudos 👏

🎙️ @ivan_kahangire , Team Lead of the Virunga Gorilla Marathon, reveals that the idea for the marathon was born out of a desire to bring 10,000 people to Kisoro after a hiking experience across the region’s magnificent mountains. Built on four pillars: economic development, tourism promotion, talent identification and an annual community-focused cause, the marathon is positioning Kisoro on the global tourism map. Through its partnership with the Mountain Gorilla Festival, the team aims to showcase Uganda’s mountain gorillas, promote environmental conservation through tree planting with Stanbic, and attract international sports tourists. As a member of the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), the marathon sees an opportunity to connect Kisoro to a global network of trail runners and adventure travellers, bringing tourism revenue and new opportunities to local communities. #VirungaGorillaMarathon2026
