A business in India gets paid in USD by a client in SF. Then it pays contractors in Mexico, Kenya, the Philippines and Europe. Every hop takes a cut. Contractors lose 10–30%. So I built dolphinze: → One payment in → Contractors choose local currency, stablecoins or digital assets → 100+ countries 20 min call 👇 calendly.com/dolphinze/chat 🐬 dolphinze.com

I attended @VitalikButerin’s talk today. I wish I could have asked a question, but there was no Q&A, so let me share my thoughts here, hoping he might reply if I make any sense. Vitalik opened his talk by discussing the need to play in defense mode against future risks to cryptography. His argument was simple.. there is a non-zero chance that AI or future computing advances could break today’s encryption, and we have no idea when that might happen. So why not prepare as if it could happen tomorrow? He discussed encrypted data backups involving one or a few operators to ensure we don’t lose access to our data in such scenarios. He also discussed older concepts like mixnets and DC-nets, questioning whether Tor’s approach to network anonymity might be outdated and whether routing through fewer stations could be more practical. Now, I understand the intention behind making our infrastructure resilient to future cryptographic failures. But I have a few questions.. Who decides which entities become these operators? And who decides whom we should trust? Even if data remains encrypted, these operators could become powerful points of surveillance, censorship, or institutional control. And what if governments, corporations, or large institutions eventually become those operators? Don’t you think we are simply making a U-turn to the exact spot from where we started this journey? The cypherpunk movement spent decades building systems that reduce our dependence on trusted intermediaries. Now, in the name of protecting those systems, are we introducing new intermediaries again? I also think we should distinguish between protecting data availability, confidentiality, and censorship resistance. Saving data doesn’t necessarily mean saving privacy or freedom. Of course, distributed backups, threshold cryptography, and independent operators could reduce these risks. But how do we ensure those operators remain independent, permissionless, and resistant to institutional capture? And my biggest question is.. Do you think it’s a better idea to compromise the values of a system to save something built on those very same values? We should prepare for cryptography getting broken by future technology, but shouldn’t we equally prepare for our infrastructure getting captured by institutions? Because if we save the data but lose privacy, freedom, and permissionless access, what exactly have we saved? Maybe the real challenge isn’t just making cryptography resilient.. It’s making sure the cypherpunk values survive along with it.

Day 1 at @EFDevcon Mumbai #Devcon8 The engagement is wild. Degens and newbies in the same rooms, and Mumbai's energy is spilling over into the wider crypto community. A few things I'm taking away: •India's crypto vibe is legit degen level, but no shilling. Just a lot of respect. •Privacy is the talk everywhere. •I've met so many Gujaratis who not only understand blockchain but actively take part in it. •Ran into friends from the @ETHGlobal @ethereum and @StellarOrg ecosystems. Always good to see them. And the city itself: walks around the block and its Ambani brands everywhere. Feels like an island of Ambanis. The traffic and air quality are really concerning, though.

Back in Mumbai after 9 years for @EFDevcon #Devcon8. The city has changed a lot, the charm hasn't. High-end tech next to makeshift structures, always trying to be better yet comfortable with what it has. And that heat and humidity. How did I survive it back then? I'm here all week. DM me if you want to meet.

Day 1 at @StellarOrg Meridian and I already heard what I truly believe from @DenelleDixon. Your earnings should not sit still, and no matter where you are in the world, you should never have to wait for it.

The next generation already interacts with digital money so differently. Teaching them how to bitcoin is a whole new level of empowerment.

300 founders in one room, and somehow every conversation still felt one on one. It's been almost a month since FounderX, Founder Institute's closed door conference in San Francisco, and I'm still thinking about it

Mark Pincus shared about building Zynga into a billion dollar company. Eric Ries on Lean Startup and how it continues to be a go to resource for startups today. James Joaquin had the room laughing with 360 and Obvious stories, proof VC has a sense of humor. Hearing how their views on building, and on AI, have shifted over the years was worth the trip alone.

Best part was seeing mentors I'd only met over Zoom, in person, and meeting with founders across 40 countries, who could just as easily become future @dolphin_ze customers.

Bitcoin is up this week. I've lived through a few cycles since helping build Xapo into @xapobankapp, and while I'm building payment rails, the chart is a distraction. A contractor in Lagos needs to know how much arrives and when, not where the price closed.

Toronto will never be San Francisco when it comes to building tech companies. I've stopped wishing it would. Our scene is small, and I've come to see that as a gift. Smaller means tighter, and the conversations carry more intent. Spent lunch walking downtown with Startup Dinner Club, ending up around Nathan Phillips Square. Nobody asked what I was raising. I heard about battery integration at scale, satellite data for better use of space, and a Canadian take on a beauty category Korean and Japanese brands have long owned. Several founders raised the shift from full-time work into gigs on their own. I didn't bring it up. They did. Proudly built by Canadians, here in Canada, for the world. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
