Randomly dredged up a memory of my French class in high school wherein a girl referred to me as a friend and I responded by saying, "I think we're more like acquaintances."

Angie Nixon didn’t win her Democratic primary because of a weak state party. Voters chose her over a candidate who outspent her 10 to 1. Also no one outside of the national media bubble saw her through the lens of “DSA,” which is part of the reason she beat back the GOP caricature of that label, and shows the limits of this sort of analysis. Actual people chose an actual person — let’s start there
Ezra Klein on the electoral performance of El-Sayed, Peggy Flanagan and Angie Nixon: Angie Nixon—I don't think there's any reason to look at the results and say it was a brilliant strategic move to run the DSA candidate in Florida. Sometimes people take statements about electoral performance as moral statements about the worth of a candidate or the ideas. That's crazy in my view.

El-Sayed in obviously had the most eyes on him this election cycle, but I'd argue Angie Nixon was the most impressive blue senate candidate of them all. She only lost by a very small margin while having basically no institutional support from Democrats. She's one to watch.
People of Florida. Y’all better hold your damn head high. We broke state legislature super majorities because we drove turnout while everyone wrote us off. We have work to do sure, but let’s celebrate the fact we won 17 seats down ballot. I’m an organizer. And I look forward to getting back to what I love and know best. Organizing THE HELL out of my state. Let’s get to work!

yes, there is a blue wave. but the amount of transphobic initiatives are passing, even in deep blue states, is very very concerning

The South is not a "lost cause". It's underorganized, underfunded, and relentlessly suppressed & gerrymandered. And despite it all, Black Southern voters have shown up anyway to be the conscience of this country throughout our history. I hope people realize that.
