If you are a CEO of a self insured companies and you want to know what the problem with pricing on medications do this:
Call your PBM and ask for
1. A list of all your pharmacy claims the last month and the net price for each
2. A price list of all net prices
3. Why a drug that is just a pill, is considered a specialty drug
4. Who pays for the rebates you get (hint, it's your sickest employees)
5. Why they reimburse your local pharmacy less than their cost and charge them crazy fees
6. If you can discuss your PBM contract with anyone
7. Why you can't add @costplusdrugs to your network, for when our prices are cheaper than theirs
8. Why you can't call a manufacturer to discuss adherence or wellness programs with the company who created the drug
9. Why they don't provide claims data to the manufacturer to help them improve the safety profile
10. Why they sell positioning on their formulary rather than using it exclusively for clinical value
11. Whether they calls doctors to get them to change scripts to the PBMs white label biosimilar
12. Why your consultant didn't tell you any of this
The level of opacity that the big PBMs create is why the price of brand drugs are outrageous

Aaron Leanhardt, the mastermind behind the Yankees torpedo bats, has one of the craziest career pivots ever.
• Earned a PhD from MIT
• Worked on a NASA-funded research team
• Physics professor at Michigan for 7 years
Leanhardt then left academics (at 40 years old) to pursue baseball.
He started at Dawson Community College in Montana before becoming a minor league coach for the Yankees.
Leanhardt then got moved to the big league club and was responsible for bridging the gap between the analytics department and the players by translating complex analytical data into actionable insights.
What a journey.

So this patient’s been here for weeks lingering. After just one to two hours of getting him sunlight yesterday he’s gone from 40 L 40% FIO2 to being on 2 L saturating 97%. Seriously he could be off oxygen.
My challenge is to any healthcare provider out there that’s reading this is to simply try getting your patients into the sunlight for 30 minutes a day and watch what happens.

If you haven't heard, there are credible indications that new federal bills will attempt to ban the sale of creatine to < 18-year-olds; which is a mistake.
I am 100% in favor of similar restrictions for countless other supplements/ingredients, but CM shouldn't be on that list.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Creatine supplementation is safe, beneficial throughout the lifespan, and should not be restricted

There are a lot more problems with the biggest PBMs than just price
1. They will tell your company they pass through the entire rebate. But they have intermediary companies called Rebate GPOs that have the contracts with big pharma. They keep a percent of the rebate amount.
The smaller your company is under 50k lives, the more they keep.

We did it! We tested 300 Bay Area foods for plastic chemicals. We found some interesting surprises.
Top 5 findings in our test results:
1. Our tests found plastic chemicals in 86% of all foods, with phthalates in 73% of the tested products and bisphenols in 22%. It's everywhere.
2. We detected phthalates in most baby foods and prenatal vitamins.
3. Hot foods which spend 45 minutes in takeout containers have 34% higher levels of plastic chemicals than the same dishes tested directly from the restaurant.
4. The 1950s Army rations we tested contained surprisingly high levels of plastic chemicals.
5. Almost every single one of the foods we tested are within both US FDA and EU EFSA regulations.
Check out our full results below.

Incredible work by the Wells Fargo analyst who ordered the same burrito bowl 75 times at eight different Chipotles in NYC to prove the portion size inconsistency 🤣

1 in 7 people in the US ages 18 - 25 met criteria for cannabis use disorder in 2021.
Although people often report using it for anxiety and sleep, it can actually *cause* anxiety and sleep problems in some people, along with psychosis and delirium.

New study shows you don't need to worry about spreading your protein intake throughout the day for building muscle.
Implies that short bouts of intermittent fasting won't harm muscle growth as long as you get sufficient protein.
And train hard.
Carbohydrate restriction induces rapid reduction of liver fat
44% reduction in liver fat in 14 days.
Instead of doctors telling patients to do this, they get lifelong meds and a permanent place in the sickcare system.
Disagree. This meme is accurate, because most scientists don’t have any real skin in the nutrition game.
Bodybuilders get nutrition right because skin in the game.

We're all being grifted (and still denied coverage when sick). Incredibly broken and evil
