It's either this, or they use a hard plastic - it snaps off and a child chokes on it. Also, for collectors, you won't find as many second hand ones with broken smokestacks. Good move by Mattel.

Picture dates: 06 March 2015 - 10 March 2018 My 2nd Hornby Gordon had its smoke generator melt the chimney, replaced with a brass one, then I realized I'd have to repaint it due to the chips in the plastic that needed filling. At that point I thought SOD IT! So rebuilt it with Duchess valve gear and a scratch built running plate. Added some details, hand painted a number 4 and voila! At some point (8 years ago), having so many Gordon's I put a video on YouTube offering it for sale: youtube.com/watch?v=-z2CytL-… where @Expl_Cookie purchased it. I hear it's had a new chassis and repaint since although I dunno what the truth is there; I'm no longer the owner! 13 April 2009 From a collection of 102 completed pictures, a selection were released online, initially on SiF yet a lot of them no one has seen. Perhaps the amount of photographs is utterly redundant, at the time I was just really happy with the result and kept trying to get the perfect photographs with my limited set up. Can’t remember if I’ve shared this but no harm doing so again. I photoshopped the Hornby E2 to identify why it looked so chunky and wrong. Chassis aside, main issues where -Dip was too pronounced -Coal bunker was too small -Rear dip was too far forward
