Singapore has come up with some internationally workable proposals for handling the vetting, and acceptance of AI agents even as they move across borders.

Bonfire Night! "Remember, remember the 5th of November: Gunpowder, treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot." A lot of people know this from the movie V for Vendetta, but when I was a kid in the UK we learned the rhyme in school. Back in the 1600s a group of conspirators plotted to take out the government and the King at the same time. They packed the cellar under the Houses of Parliament with barrels of gunpowder and planned to light the fuse when the King arrived. Guy Fawkes was caught on his way to set it off. He was hanged, drawn, and quartered. Yet in the UK we still mark the day by celebrating the sheer audacity of trying to destroy the King, the government, and Parliament in one go. We do it with bonfires, public firework displays, and (for reasons lost to history) cake. The night before is Mischief Night, supposedly the night the conspirators were planting the gunpowder. Mostly it’s just pranks… but when people have access to fireworks, those pranks can escalate fast. The most ridiculous β€œprank” I ever saw was a group of kids stuffing a phone booth full of fireworks and blowing it up. Not really a prank if you ask me. This was an Educational post from a Brit abroad. Today’s the day Americans get to post about Brits losing their fingers. If you’re celebrating, have fun and stay safe.

Not to be dramatic, but if we don't bring back socially conscious sitcoms that teach people empathy through hilarious, lovable characte tackling real-world issues, WE ARE ALL GOIN DIE.

There was a bomb threat in Azabudai Hills yesterday. The primary school there had to be evacuated. 15 cops went in and Sept the place. Nothing happened and it’s one of those obscure things that’s probably nothing but you never really know.

Against censorship but at the same time I don’t believe we need to be exposed to people’s last moments as they die from freak accidents. The Lear jet and the football player this week. It should be a standard option not to be desensitised.

Amazon web services chewing through $75 billion of capex spending in Q3. That’s a billion dollars a day, you know. For one company. A billion dollars of new spending every single day.

Microsoft say they added 24 data centers in the same quarter. 2 new data centers a week going live and they still haven’t got nearly enough to meet their backlog, so they say.

Goldman Sachs reckon global data center capacity was using 103 Gigawatts of power up to last year. By 2030 they confidently mark that as going up by 2.7x. Something that took decades to get to 100 will go to 270 in next 5 years.

We were taught that Earth orbits the Sun in a closed circle. In reality, Earth has never returned to the same point in space once in 4.5 billion years. Right now, the Sun is carrying Earth and every planet around the center of the Milky Way at 230 km/s (828,000 km/h), more than 18,000 kilometers every 80 seconds. Because the Solar System is tilted 60.2Β° to the galactic plane and bobs up and down through the galactic disc roughly every 30 million years, the planets trace open 3D corkscrew helices across deep space rather than flat loops. The last time the Sun stood where it stands today, one Galactic Year (230 million years) ago, the very first dinosaurs were only beginning to appear on Earth. Since forming 4.6 billion years ago, our Sun has completed only 20 laps.

Japanese air self defence forces scramble fighter jets on average every day against Chinese incursions. Back in the 2000’s these were incredibly rare. These days it’s constant.

In a weird way, everybody is rooting for you. When you go to a job interview, the interviewer wants you to be amazing so they don’t have to look anymore. when you go on a date, the person wants to have an amazing date with you. If you make a piece of content, people want to see amazing pieces of content and they have no problem if it’s yours. the instant you get into the mindset that people want you to do well, your entire world gets better. And you’ll be shocked to know this pattern keeps repeating in different areas of life.
Hit me with the harshest reality truth.
