My son and I did a thing this weekend. Went to Idaho City's game against Garden Valley Friday night. Great setting...and an entertaining PA announcer. 8-man football is FUN. GV controlled most of the game but had to hold off a furious IC rally to win 38-36.

Texas State looked great last night. But there's a reason we didn't see shots of the stands. Attendance only 16,229, and that was the "announced" number. A lot of work ahead down there, and it doesn't happen overnight.

I'll come out and say it... For the people who were massive Maddux/Nate Potter haters in the preseason... and I'm not talking the people who had rational doubts, but the bonafide haters... You were wrong. Just objectively wrong. Maddux is cooking with a WR core down 4 of its top 5 options, and Potter seems to dial up the right call more often than not. This team has issues, but through 5.5 games, Madsen and Potter are the least of those issues.
