Happy International Day of Sign Languages, it’s time to make Jamaican Sign Language an official language. Jamaica was one of the first countries to ratify and sign the UNCRPD-in 2006 the UN identified the importance of all sign languages and making them official languages.
Access is information in the native language of the Deaf person for Jamaica its Jamaican Sign Language JSL, Cuba-Cuban Sign Language CSL, Trinidad and Tobago-TTSL etc… it’s time we properly include the Deaf community and not make them an afterthought.
I don’t want no one to tell me Jamaican people poor… I went to a state the other day and I don’t think I have seen so much poor and homeless people ever in my life… Jamaicans are not poor just underpaid…
It’s Deaf Awareness month. What have you done to be more inclusive? Calling all Jamaicans to support the call for Jamaican Sign Language to become an official language.
