Hudl might've created one of the smartest marketing campaigns ever ⚽️
Instead of telling clubs what its technology can do, it's going to show them.
The recently launched "Backed by Hudl" campaign will outfit one soccer club in England with their entire technology ecosystem:
- Cameras
- GPS trackers
- Video analysis
- Expert coaching
Essentially they're turning a club into a living case study on player development and results when a team has the full @Hudl stack.
The club will be the showcase for thousands of other clubs they want as customers.
Similar the way Nike outfits pro's or a college basketball team.
@KyleScottL pointed this out, "You have teams that are endemic to youth sports or businesses that are endemic, like HUDL, like GameChanger. So they want to pick a team, show off what their stuff can do, and then show that to the other 99% of teams out there to sell it to. And then on the other side, you have brands that are not endemic to youth sports. There's nothing State Farm can give a team to generate content from. Hey, we gave all these kids on this baseball team insurance. Watch our videos, right? Like it doesn't work that way. So they can sponsor the long tail of teams and the endemic teams can choose a single club to give them everything they have to show off all their wares, just like Nike does with pro basketball players or college basketball teams. We outfit the whole team in Nikes. Nobody pays for that. All the people downstream of that are the ones who watch it and pay for it."

A coach said he'd drive to Lincoln and fight us if we took away Classic from football coaches.
Finally, I think I can talk him out of it...as you'll see in the thread, Classic workflows and layouts are back, and a lot more.
I've coached all 16 years I've worked at Hudl. High school HC, college OC at an NAIA school. I live football like you do. I tried using the new Hudl exclusively during spring ball and couldn't. Tough look.
I know every click costs time. Time is whether I get to do bedtime with my kid or I'm eating dinner at my desk. So I made a list. Every detail that kept me from doing my job. The team took it seriously.
I told them I was ready to go back to Classic and never look back.
This weekend, I gave Hudl another go. For the first time in a long time, I'm fired up to use it this fall.
Our team fixed a ton of the flows coaches love in Classic. And we built some things Classic never had.
The fixes: can see more information, the folder tree is back, drawing no longer plays the video, undo is back, the timer stays on screen, etc. The basic stuff that isn't so basic, it’s vital.
The new stuff: reports live next to my film. Titan data tied to the actual clip. AI scouting reports before I run a single query. Video on a second monitor. New stuff that's making me more efficient as a coach than ever.
