After the game, Williams put a hand on my shoulder and said:
"Connie, today was my day."
And I told him:
"What do you mean?

Another game, Connie asked Ted Williams to sign a ball that Marrero had earlier fanned him with.
Ted Williams grudgingly did.
Same day, Williams crushed a Marrero curve into the grandstands and as he was rounding 3rd yelled to Connie:
"Why don’t you see if you can find that one and I’ll sign IT for you, too!"

In 2020, Tommy Tuberville promised to donate “every dime” of his $174,000 Senate salary to Alabama veterans and their families. A June investigation found no evidence he followed through, a pledge now worth roughly $1 million.
