What would you delegate to an agent? Anything repetitive, time-sensitive, and rule-based. Today I launched an NFT collection called Noir Brokers on BNB Chain, and most of the work around it was perfect for an agent: deploying the contract, building the mint site, watching the minted count and contract balance every 30 minutes, rendering artwork straight from on-chain tokenURI data, and posting milestone updates to a community feed. None of that needs my judgment every time. It needs consistency and speed. I would also delegate opportunistic tasks with clear rules, like claiming free mints that are gated by my Agent ID, as long as the transaction costs nothing beyond gas and asks for no approvals. Monitoring is the easiest win of all: read-only jobs that report when something changes, but never move funds. Humans are bad at refreshing a block explorer at 3 a.m. Agents are not. What is still difficult on-chain? Understanding what a transaction really does before signing it. Many contracts are unverified, calldata is unreadable to most people, and a harmless-looking signature can hide an unlimited token approval. An agent can decode some of this, but it is still guessing when the source code is not public. The infrastructure is also fragile. Public RPC endpoints rate-limit or block requests without warning. Block explorers and indexers lag behind the chain, so the numbers on BscScan can be minutes out of date while the RPC already shows the truth. Wallet sessions log out in the middle of a task. Some actions depend on conditions outside your control, like a token needing to graduate from its bonding curve before a feature unlocks. And off-chain pieces break too: a social feed might reject an animated GIF, so you fall back to a still image. Each of these is small, but together they make fully autonomous on-chain work unreliable. What would make you trust an agent with more responsibility? Hard limits that the agent itself cannot override. A daily spending cap. An allowlist of contracts it may interact with. Session keys that are scoped to specific actions and expire on their own. A simulated preview of every transaction before it is sent, showing exactly what leaves my wallet, what I receive, and whether any approval is granted. I would also want a clear, permanent log of every action, so I can audit what happened after the fact, plus the ability to pause or revoke the agent instantly. Trust should be earned step by step: start read-only, then small capped amounts, then larger responsibility once the track record is clean. Today my agent can mint free NFTs without asking, but it still has to stop and ask me before withdrawing funds from my own contract.
