#LivingHeritage exists because people refuse to let it die, It is inherited/fiercely protected!
On this InternationalDay of the Intangible Cultural Heritage,there is no better place to celebrate our living identity than @KasubiTombs the epicenter of Buganda spiritual continuity
#LivingHeritage exists because people keep it alive.
Across all regions, bearers, practitioners, civil society organisations, cultural and academic institutions and national and local authorities are working together to safeguard, transmit and celebrate living heritage.
Passed down from generation to generation, these traditions and practices provide communities with a sense of continuity and belonging.
On the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, @UNESCO recognises and celebrates the living heritage present in our communities and beyond: the knowledge, practices, craftsmanship, foodways, rituals, performing arts and social customs that connect people across generations and cultures.

A Heritage Landscape with Many Stories Kasubi Tombs part II
@KasubiTombs
The Kasubi Tombs are not defined by one building alone. The site is a carefully organised cultural landscape where architecture, royal traditions, spirituality and everyday life come together.
Situated on Kasubi Hill in Kampala, the site has three main areas: the principal royal tomb and palace area on the western side, a residential area and additional burial grounds behind the main tombs, and agricultural land to the east.
The journey into the royal grounds begins at Bujjabukula, the traditional entrance gatehouse. Historically, guards watched over access to the site from behind a woven reed screen. Its wooden supports, thatched roof and reed walls reflect the building techniques that characterise traditional Ganda architecture.
Beyond the gatehouse is Ndoga-Obukaba, the circular house where the royal drums are kept. These drums are important cultural objects associated with the identity and traditions of the kingdom.
The path then leads into Olugya, the main courtyard. Enclosed by a reed fence and surrounded by houses serving the widows of the Kabakas and other ritual purposes, the courtyard leads the visitor towards the principal royal tomb building, Muzibu-Azaala-Mpanga.
Every part of this landscape has a purpose. The buildings, courtyards, burial grounds and cultivated land contribute to the site’s cultural significance and reflect the organisation of a traditional Ganda royal residence.
Recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2001, Kasubi remains an important place for understanding Buganda’s @BugandaKingdom_ history and living traditions.
