Under I-638, a girl's provider must verify her sex based on her "reproductive anatomy, genetic makeup, or normal endogenously produced testosterone levels." The attorney general's office says girls "would thus have to undergo some type of medical evaluation of their sex."

Supporters of Washington's I-638 tell voters it will "protect fairness in girls' sports." What it actually does is put a costly, invasive medical check in front of every family whose daughter wants to play on a girls' school team. Boys' teams have no such requirement.

She realized the awful truth: that no marriage, no child, no career accomplishment will ever make gender dysphoria go away. This is why we should not force people into the closet. It leaves a trail of broken families.
This still confuses me to this day. Why did he do this??

Republicans won in 2024 arguing Democrats were too obsessed with trans people to focus on the economy. As billionaires like Elon Musk flood the airwaves with anti-trans ads amid Trump's own floundering economy, Democrats have a chance to flip the tables. My latest for @thenation

NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade says he began distancing himself from certain jokes and language in the Miami Heat locker room long before his daughter Zaya publicly came out as transgender. Speaking on the 'Conversations With Cam' podcast, Wade explained that as his family privately navigated Zaya’s identity, he started listening differently and no longer participated in what he called a “masculine, toxic environment.” “I wasn’t in on the jokes no more. I wasn’t laughing. I was leaving out of the locker room when I would hear certain things,” Wade said. The shift led him to have a direct conversation with longtime teammate and close friend Udonis Haslem, who was unaware of the family’s situation at the time. Wade said Haslem later changed his thinking, language, and actions after that “safe conversation.” Zaya came out publicly in 2020. Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union have since become prominent advocates for LGBTQ+ youth. Together with Zaya, Wade co-founded Translatable, an organization focused on creating supportive spaces for LGBTQIA+ young people. Wade emphasized the need for more environments where people can listen and learn rather than immediately reject unfamiliar topics.

If you haven't read the story The New York Times published in 2002 detailing the final communications from people inside the Twin Towers on 9/11, it is one of the most sobering accounts of the day.

People are freaking out but it's literally the position trans activists ourselves argued at the Supreme Court. It's the status quo we had just six years ago!
This is a silly question, but the answer Talarico gives is basically the ideal normie Dem answer - these things should be decided at the local level, sport by sport, individual by individual. It does not need a national or even state policy!

Mount Sinai says it agreed to end gender-affirming care for minors “so that Mount Sinai will not be compelled to produce these highly sensitive patient records to the grand jury.” A grand jury in Texas wanted the medical records of New York children.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school, she built hospitals and bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert once met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

Another expert trying to explain why they think I am wrong…. What makes you think we didn’t have difficult conversations? We had many of them. I work in HR. Difficult conversations are part of my everyday professional life, sometimes extraordinarily difficult ones. I’m certainly not frightened of having them with my own children when they’re necessary. And I didn’t simply accept what my daughter told me without question. I arranged several appointments with psychiatrists because I wanted her mental health explored properly. I wanted to understand what she was experiencing, whether anything else might be contributing to how she felt, and to make sure the decisions we made were informed by appropriate professional advice. We talked. We questioned. We explored. We sought specialist help. And we gave her time. Supporting my daughter was not the absence of scrutiny, quite the opposite. The easy option would have been to shut the conversation down and simply tell her who she was allowed to be. You may disagree with the decisions we eventually made. That’s your right. But please don’t mistake acceptance for avoidance or assume that you know what happened within our family. After all the conversations, questions and professional input, she was still telling me the same thing: “Mum, I’m a girl.” Eventually, I realised my job wasn’t to win an argument with my child. It was to make the most considered decisions I could as her parent, and to listen to her.
Replying to @Missmbl2812
you are a terrible parent; you are allowing delusion to ruin the life of your child, rather than have a difficult conversation
