U.S. inflation has now been above the Fed’s 2% target for 66 straight months, more than five years.
It’s only the third time in the past century that inflation has stayed above 2% for at least five years, per Bespoke Investment Group.

Americans are paying 38.3% more for electricity in 2026 than they did in 2020, per Bloomberg.
That’s faster than overall inflation, which is up roughly 29% over the same period.
Paychecks rose 1.5%. Prices rose 3.5%.
Q3 earnings are in. After inflation, the typical worker lost ground. The gender pay gap narrowed, mostly because men slipped. Not one group of men came out ahead.

Today is #DisabledWomensEqualPayDay.
Disabled women working full-time are paid 68¢ for every $1 paid to nondisabled men. Count every disabled woman who works and it drops to 56¢.
Full-time, that’s $20,594 lost every year. 🧵👇🏽
A degree doesn’t close it: a disabled woman with a bachelor’s is typically paid less than a nondisabled man with some college.
For disabled women of color, it’s as low as 54¢.
And the gap starts before the first paycheck. TA teams, that part runs through your process.

ALT “The gap starts before the first paycheck.” 22.3% of disabled women are in the labor force, compared to 73.6% of nondisabled men, and their unemployment rate is 7.5% compared to 3.9%. Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act still allows certified employers to pay some disabled workers below the federal minimum wage, and the Labor Department withdrew its phase-out plan in July 2025. BREAKING: America’s $1.7 trillion auto loan market is headed for a crash, per Reuters.
Auto loans are now one of the biggest sources of household debt, bigger than credit cards.
And the strain is showing: 1 in 5 Americans is behind on at least one loan, the highest since 2010, and the average car on the road is now nearly 13 years old, a record.

Anthropic cut its junior tech hiring by two-thirds. Their own report says so.
Junior technical hires went from 27% to 9%.
AI agents now log 6 hours for every 1 human hour. Meeting time is up 20%.
One in five staff say their job is now managing Claudes instead of doing the work.
The machines produce, the seniors review all day, and the entry-level jobs that train the next seniors are drying up.
Every "AI efficiency" story on earnings calls this quarter has this underneath it… but ask how many juniors they hired.
Well, this is awkward.
Back in March, I questioned the grand idea that AI agents could replace entire engineering teams.
Now Meta is reportedly rebuilding management layers because humans are spending too much time cleaning up after the machines.
Turns out firing the adults and leaving the interns in charge wasn’t much of a strategy…. even when the interns are artificial.

BREAKING: Banks are taking back more homes.
Lenders repossessed 5,794 homes in August, up 42% from a year ago and 22% from July, per ATTOM.
That’s far faster than the 13% rise in overall foreclosure filings, meaning more distressed homeowners are reaching the end of the process.

U.S. job numbers keep getting revised lower, per Bloomberg.
Since the start of 2025, initial jobs reports have been revised down in 16 of 20 months, cutting a total of 793,000 jobs.
That’s an average of nearly 40,000 jobs a month that were reported, then quietly erased.
