The Rt Hon Shabana Mahmood MP, Lord Chancellor, has announced a significant change to the Personal Injury Discount Rate (PIDR) in England and Wales. Effective from 11 January 2025, the PIDR will increase from -0.25% to 0.5%.
This decision follows a comprehensive review process, including consultations with HM Treasury, statutory consultees, and an independent expert panel. The new rate aligns with the rates set in Scotland and Northern Ireland last year.
