SIWES is trending because ITF has started paying students from 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 batches, the whooping ₦15k stipend at random, leaving many surprised., this comes after NANS intentional intervention. However, graduates who did their SIWES as far back as 2015/19 still think it’s a myth, as they are yet to be paid. The ₦15k stipend is supposed to be paid almost immediately after the completion of the 3-6 months compulsory academic requirement training, by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), which has been in existence since 1973. It’s calculated at ₦2,500 monthly. For 6 months, you get ₦15k; for 4 months IT you get ₦10k; for 3 months IT, you are ineligible. Yet, even after meeting all requirements, payment is never guaranteed. Over the years, SIWES stipends have become a matter of luck, habitually delayed, and so unreliable that students no longer expect them. An ITF agent recently explained the delays citing; insufficient government funding, institutional bottlenecks such as schools failing to submit the students log book, details, and delays in verifying students’ records. Most beneficiaries paid today completed their SIWES in September or October 2025, but not everyone from those batches received payment. Even students from the same institution are being paid randomly, with payments extending to backlogs dating as far back as 2022. In December 2025, NANS urged FG to probe the habitual delay of payments. In July 2026, NANS launched a portal to collate details of students who hadn’t been paid (itf.nanshq.org) for escalation. Now, students are wondering whether they were paid because of elections, or it was a geniune payment, and why it isn’t general. •• Tired of sharing a prepaid? Update: Killaboi tells court that after he lost money to betting, he caught late Augusta charging men ₦1.5M for raw hook-up, and her mom supported, which got him upset. Apparently, in July 2023 Benjamin ā€˜Killaboi’ Nnayerugo, lost a huge amount of money to sports betting, which affected his mood. Augusta tried to encourage him to move on, reminding him he had won bigger ones prior, but her words did nothing to his mood. After that, she went back to school, but he somehow had access to her Instagram where he noticed an odd pattern of wiped messages and frequent conversations with perceived strangers. He checked some of the messages, they involved invitations to clubs, hangout, and hook ups. He however, asked her to visit Lagos that weekend, planning to log out of her Instagram so that she won’t suspect. Alas, on the eve of her arrival, a message popped up from one ā€œYakoā€ who addressed her as ā€œSweetheartā€ in the chats, sending his anxiety off the charts. Apparently, they had moved their conversation from Snapchat to Insta. Yako was asking Augusta when she could come to Lagos; ā€œI can come anytimeā€ she said. Then, they started negotiating on a previously agreed price which Augusta insisted she wasn’t reducing. Again, Yako asked them to move to WhatsApp. Killaboi being a spectator all these time, got curious and entered game. He said he got a virtual sim, opened a WhatsApp account and messaged Augusta pretending to be Yako; and beat him to the negotiation table. Then asked ā€œSo how much did you say you wanted?ā€ ₦1.5M, Augusta replied to the fake Yako. He negotiated ₦800k, she rejected, ₦1M, she rejected; saying because it was risky what she wanted to do. Then he asked if they’d be meeting at an apartment or hotel. ā€œAnyone is fine, just give me the addressā€. she replied. Then he suggested he straight WWE sex without protection, again, Augusta agreed, provided they underwent a medical test. At this point, Killaboi said his anxiety peaked and he started shaking uncontrollably, in disbelief that his serious girlfriend was into hook-up. So he decided to confront her by sending her the money and a direction to a hotel where he’d be waiting for her. But later decided against it and video called her as Yako; Augusta picked the call, saw him, screamed and hung up. He later confronted her, and broke up with her. And then narrated everything to Augusta’s mom, whose first response was to blame him. ā€œwhy did you is wrong and a criminal offenseā€. Killaboi became upset at the mother’s reaction and took back control of the conversation, telling her that he didn’t call for lecture on his method, but to tell her he’d broken up with Augusta; the mom then offered to speak with her on his behalf, he hung up. After Killaboi narrated all these in court, the defence tried to play a video recording of a conversation. But since it had not been duly tendered, it wasn’t approved as the case was adjourned to today, Thursday October 22nd. ICYMI: In 2023 July, he klled his girlfriend, Augusta. Allegedly removed her breast, vajina & eyes. Bribed police and fled, acquired new citizenship, until he was caught in Doha in 2024. This story will be updated. Follow @TrendingEx for dailies..
Update: Augusta’s uncle gives court a detailed account of how her body was found at Killaboi’s Ajah residence with her internal organs removed. ā€œFor 3-days we couldn’t reach her, I got worried. Her roommate Oyindamola at Lead City gave us Benjamin’s address, directed us to check there. Only that they won’t let us in without invite or a code. So I got a soldier at the Ikeja cantonment, with myself, Oyindamola, My Sister (AG’s mom), and a neighbor Mrs. Bankole. When we go to Oral Estate, the security refused to let us in as predicted. But after some persuasion from the Soldier, they agreed and one escorted us. We found his apartment 24a Abiola Akpoyin Street, Oral Estate, Ikota, Ajah, Lagos. The gate was slightly open like someone had left hastily. We entered and saw Augusta’s car, with the keys on the bonnet. So the women started calling out her name, she didn’t respond. The building is a semi-detached duplex, a window was opened upstairs. But the estate security blocked us from entering, advised for a search warrant. I ran down to a station and came back with two officers. Then, we used a ladder. They insisted I went up first. I did. Using my torch for light. Being the first to enter, I saw a pool of blood, spreading across the apartment, looked further and saw a swollen body, which I could recognize was my niece. I signaled the officer, made sure not to scream to avoid panic. The officer advised it be immediately evacuated, they did so around 2am. We left the place and told my sister that we didn’t find anything, we’d proceed the next day. I took her back to my place at Egbeda, cos’ she lived alone at Maryland. July 16th, I called two of her friends and broke the news to them.. The case was subsequently transferred to Panti. We gave our statement, I led the police back to the house, for photo evidence. Luckily, Oyindamola actively followed Benjamin on social media, she saw him confessing about how he killed his girlfriend after a quarrel, and is contemplating suicide, we showed the police, they saved it and it went viral.ā€ Apparently, Benjamin stabbed her, sliced her open, removed her internal organs. Then fled the country. The case continues today March 5, Lagos State High Court in Igbosere. Follow @TrendingEx for dailies..

El NiƱo is trending because a disaster that causes extreme heatwaves or rainfall due to shifts in the Pacific Ocean may hit Nigeria, with about 451k global casualties projected within 6-months. [Explained] So basically, the cool wind that usually push away warm surface water westward to (Indonesia & Australia) from the eastern pacific, (South America), becomes weak, it’s called ā€œtrade windsā€. Then, the warm water and its hot air that is supposed to go towards Indonesia and Australia, starts going back to Southern America. This occurs every 2-7 years and is known as El NiƱo. When these regions cool abnormally, it is called La NiƱa; when neither condition occurs, it is ENSO-neutral. Together, they form the El NiƱo–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) climate cycle. Now you know what El NiƱo is right? The atmosphere is a system, connected, and the Pacific Ocean is one giant heat source that is plugged to this system. Think of it like a big boiling pot. Therefore when it (Pacific) changes wind direction, it influences circulation of hot air across the atmosphere. So some countries may get nothing, some may get, depending on the intensity of El NiƱo. Which translates to either drought or extreme rainfall, depending on what the air pushes to your own region or area. — El NiƱo Normally, the sun heats oceans, lakes and rivers, causing moisture to rise, form clouds and produce rainfall. In this case with the abnormal Pacific Ocean, that moist warm air, stops going up easily as vapor in the east (Indonesia and Australia) and shifts to South America. So, the normal rainfall or heat that’s supposed to happen in Indonesia & Australia, starts to happen in South America. Automatically the first people who’d experience the weather change is Indonesia and Australia. Indonesia and Australia typically depend on these winds for their normal rainfall patterns. When they weaken, they experience drought, extreme heat and wildfires, like the ones you hear about in Australia; while parts of South America may experience increased rainfall and flooding. Essentially, El NiƱo disrupts normal weather patterns, making rainfall and temperatures harder to predict and extreme in affected regions. This time, WMO and NOAA’s forecast suggest the atmospheric change could reach parts of Nigeria too, as it already experiences rainfall impacts associated with the current El NiƱo. Until then, Nigeria could experience extreme heat, rainfall, flooding or drought, but there is no cause for alarm, and no official confirmation suggests that El NiƱo will trigger these events in Nigeria. While El NiƱo can influence rainfall patterns, it cannot determine Nigeria’s weather alone, as the West African monsoon also plays a major role; This is the seasonal movement of moist air from the Atlantic Ocean into West Africa. El NiƱo already started in September, and is developing. According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), it is expected to peak around December 2026 and potentially persist into March 2027, as the strongest recorded Super El NiƱo recorded. In 1877/78, a powerful El NiƱo caused over 50 million fatalities, estimated 3% of the world’s population. Follow @TrendingEx for daily explanations!

Agbo is trending because Igbos are accusing Opeyemi Famakin of bigotry, arguing that his Yoruba agbo Jedi concoction is a leading cause of kidney problems. Medics also debunked his false claims that Igbos suffer the most kidney problems. Which apparently is North East followed by South West, according to researchers. Exonorating NAFDAC, Ope boldly published unverified claims that across all hospitals in Nigeria, there are more Igbos down with kidney problems. [Which has been proven false.] As Igbos are no. 1 fake drugs and drink merchants, followed by Kano, where he also subtly implied igbos are also the ones operating there, not Hausas.. While he failed to provide his source, the food critic then challenged Nigerians to ā€œask their doctorsā€ to confirm his hypothetical claims. Doctors took it up and totally debunked his claims, insisting it is a general problem not peculiar to a tribe, but higher in Northern Nigeria and in SW. Now, Igbos are also accusing the food critic of bigotry. Arguing that, he accused the entire Igbo ethnicity but failed to recognize the elephant in South West, called Agbo. An unregulated street concoction drink sold in bottles and plastics, which is the top 4 leading cause of kidney failure in Nigeria. Which, NAFDAC has repeatedly cautioned people against consuming, due to the nature of production and unknown content it’s made of, making it unsafe and dangerous. Last month September, in Odigbo, Ondo state 48 persons died after taking a toxic agbo Jedi, blinded 7 people and hospitalized over 182 persons. NAFDAC made an urgent intervention, ran tests and discovered that the drink had high concentrations of methanol; a toxic chemical that can cause blindness, organ failure and death. Igbos concluded by adding that they also condemn and rue the fake drink producers among them, but the problem is national and shouldn’t be particularized to one ethnic group, like Famakin ignorantly did. Meanwhile, Yorubas argue that the igbos are rejecting accountability, and people buying it are aware of the risk, and mostly Agbo is a natural herbs that doesn’t need NAFDAC regulation. — Well, this is false. Every consumable or simply, every item that makes contact the human body; cream, eye drop, food, medicine etc requires NAFDAC approval. However the topic has spiraled into another full Igbo vs. Yoruba e-war. Go through the screenshot for crossed takes.. Follow @TrendingEx for daily explanations!
