1/11/75 Deng Xiaoping finally gets a chance to talk to Mao properly and asks if he's on the right track in his work. Mao says that he's doing "okay".

New episode! Josephine was the great love of Napoleon's life, but in late 1809, he had their marriage annulled -- how had it come to this? (link below)

I’ve mostly abandoned this platform and moved to BlueSky. But what happened in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday was too important not to share here too.
This is a long thread on the police massacre in Rio. Please, take sometime to read it and consider retweeting.

Okay, this one actually shows poor strategic thinking: allowing yourself to be drawn into a "gay off" with Royal Navy sailors is like agreeing to play pickup basketball against the Dream Team.
In March 2018, he recounted in explicit detail what he described as a “gay off” between Marines and British sailors in Bahrain: “Pull into Bahrain in ’07 on a MEU, a Royal Navy submarine happens to be in port at the same time. … Before we even realize what’s going on, the other weird bastard just leans down and licks the damn thing from the bottom of the ballsack all the way up to the top of the dick. Stands up, looks dead at us and yells ‘BEAT THAT!’ … I proudly withdrew our team on the grounds that one cannot play gay chicken if one is actually gay.”
The Seattle Mariners are Canada's team: furthest north MLB franchise and 2 of the best living Canadian players. Time to send Mr. Trump's yankee Blue Jays back south.
I took a DNA test and apparently I'm part Anatolian Neolithic Farmer and part Bell Beaker Culture, which makes sense, because I've always been drawn to bell-shaped implements and I also enjoy eating wheat and other staple crops.

[AUSTIN POWERS] Mini-Me was a brilliant idea, although I don't know that he did as much with it as he might have. (2001)

It's probably foolish to think a NYC mayor will successfully translate into being a national political figure, but I still think Eric Adams would be in my top 5 for "who will be the next Democratic presidential nominee after Joe Biden?".
I'm the only contractor in town who has been initiated into medieval builders' guild secrets. Sure, other companies might be "licensed" and "insured," but do they know where to hide the holy card and old shoe in the walls to prevent the devil from entering your home?

I don't think anyone who's salivating at the prospect of mass political violence or civil war has the foggiest idea of how bad these things are in real life. It's beyond their memory and their imagination.

Israel's detention policies are wrong. They aren't "torture prisons", although official torture has sometimes happened in Israel and its absolutely wrong when it does.
The problem is you guys want to equate this with Hamas so you can excuse the horrifying stuff they do.
