It’s because in Welsh five is pump, pronounced ‘pimp’, which was thought might be offensive to English speaking tourists’ sensibilities. Not really. It just became redundant. More in pic/here: railforums.co.uk/threads/car…
Anyone know why Cardiff Station does not have a Platform 5? Seems odd. It has a 0,1,2,3,4,6,7,8 but no '5' Is it a strange Cardiffian superstition? @ILovesTheDiff
