London’s taxi trade was calling out the BBC long before the new wave of critics made it fashionable. During the height of Uber’s incursion into the capital, the BBC NEVER reported accurately our side of the story - a bias perhaps influenced by the close friendship between then–Head of BBC News, James Harding, and George Osborne.
The taxi trade was publicly vilified, despite the fact that Uber was compelled to amend its operating model in 2018 to bring it into legal compliance.
The broader point is this: if the BBC could so blatantly misrepresent something as clear-cut as London’s taxi industry, what confidence can the public have in its reporting on matters of far greater complexity and consequence?
