Great thread/posts on bats that offer such valuable benefits to us all.
Take the spookiness out of bats.
Like all bats, the Hoary Bat is a predator of nocturnal bugs. Moths are a huge art of their diet. Several moth larvae species are considered pests for agricultural crops & forests. Bats provide FREE pest control for farmers!

Think about not cleaning up your leaves this fall. Yes to cleaning your eaves, culverts and waterways to not clog waterways come spring but there are benefits in other areas.
Leave some leaves behind this fall!
Consider not raking your whole yard this year to help create habitat and other ecological benefits.
🍂 Natural mulch: Those fallen leaves act as a natural mulch, insulating your soil. This helps maintain soil moisture, regulates temperature, and fosters a healthier ecosystem in your garden.
🍂 Wildlife habitat: Leaf litter offers protection for beneficial insects, birds, and other wildlife. These animals and insects play crucial roles in pollination and pest control, contributing to a thriving, biodiverse environment.

One of David’s comments was from this book in relation to nutrient overloading of our lakes.
1g of phosphate can feed the demand of 8,100g of aquatic vegetation.
We can’t look to others to fix this.
