This week I added the pureplay photonics ETF $FOTO to my long term portfolio. $AAOI jumped today for the same reason we found it attractive in the first place: U.S.-based manufacturing. Recent Washington discussions suggest restrictions on Chinese optical modules may target 3.2T products. This is a favorable development for companies like $AAOI which already produce laser chips in Texas and have been expanding domestic capacity. AI demand was already tightening the optical supply chain. Policy may now make domestic capacity even more valuable.
