Many things can be true:
-Bob Nutting is cheap
-Bob Nutting is incompetent
-MLB financial system isn't fair (to fans)
-Players don't care
-Owners care less
Baseball isn't the product, the fans are. No matter the financial system, fans will be there to sell to advertisers. Therefore, the incentive for players/owners to level the playing field is nearly zero.
No (meaningful) change is coming anytime soon.

Tonight, with the smallest payroll in baseball, the Cleveland baseball team clinched its third straight postseason appearance.
On the same night, the Milwaukee Brewers became the first club since 2023 to win 100 games.
Earlier today, in pathetic contrast, Pirates management and its apologists celebrated 81 wins.
Pittsburgh hasn’t reached the postseason in 11 years. That’s the third-longest drought in sports. Out of 124 teams, 121 have played a postseason game more recently.

That means continually lengthening the timeline. Skenes now, Termarr soon, Severino after.
