AI may be killing your chances of getting that tech job, and many beginners don’t realize it.
This is something every newbie in tech needs to understand.
You build a lot of projects using AI.
You give AI a prompt.
AI writes the code.
AI builds the product.
You look at the finished project and feel like you’re on top of the world.
But there is one serious problem:
AI has started replacing your thinking instead of improving it.
When you are asked to read your own code, you struggle.
When there is an error, you immediately run back to AI.
When someone asks, “Why did you use this function?” you cannot explain it.
And this is exactly where the problem starts.
Because getting a tech job is not just about having beautiful projects on GitHub.
You still have to pass the interview.
Here are some things you may face during a technical interview:
1. Manual Code Review
You may be given hundreds of lines of code and asked to explain what the code does.
What does this function do?
Why was this approach used?
Where is the bug?
How would you improve the code?
At this point, AI may not be there to rescue you.
2. Live Coding
You may be asked to share your screen, turn on your camera and solve a problem live.
Now it is time to prove that you actually understand the skill written on your CV.
AI cannot replace your understanding.
3. Technical Questions
An interviewer may ask questions about your stack:
“Explain REST APIs.”
“What is the difference between a list and a tuple?”
“How does authentication work?”
“Why did you choose Django react etc for this project?”
Now you have to answer verbally.
You cannot simply copy and paste a prompt into AI
This is why some people have 20 projects but still cannot pass one technical interview.
The problem is not AI.
The problem is how you are using AI.
AI should not replace your brain.
AI should help you improve it.
Use AI to:
• Explain concepts you don't understand
• Review code you have written yourself
• Give you practice questions
• Challenge your solution
• Explain your mistakes
• Teach you better approaches
• Prepare you for technical interviews
• Help you understand documentation
Don't just tell AI:
“Build this project for me.”
Instead, also ask:
“Teach me how to build this project and explain every important decision.”
That small change in mindset can make a huge difference.
I will soon be hosting a workshop on:
How to Use AI to Improve Your Tech Skills — Without Allowing AI to Replace Your Ability.
Because the future is not about choosing between AI or human skills.
It is about becoming a skilled professional who knows how to use AI effectively.
What do you think?
Is AI making upcoming developers better or making them too dependent?

7 habits that separate "Average" Data Analysts from the "Great" ones:
✅Defining the 'Why': They never touch a dataset until they understand the business problem.
✅Standardizing SQL: They write clean, commented code that others can actually read.
✅Data Skepticism: They double-check "outliers" before reporting them as insights.
✅Simplifying Visuals: They remove the "noise" so the data tells a clear story.
✅Continuous Learning: They spend 30 mins a day exploring new libraries or tools.
✅Domain Expertise: They learn the industry, not just the numbers.
✅Automating the Boring Stuff: If they have to do it twice, they script it.
Which one are you working on this week? 👇

Happy Monday, Devs! ☕️✨
New week, clean repository, endless possibilities.
Before you dive into the backlog, remember: you don’t have to solve every problem by 12:00 PM today. Take a breath, comment your code, and tackle it one commit at a time.
Your weekly reminder:
"The code you write today is the future you build tomorrow." Keep pushing, keep learning, and let’s make it a productive one.

Breaking into tech doesn’t always mean writing code. In 2026, the "No-Code" and "Low-Code" revolution is larger than ever, and Nigerians are increasingly dominating these spaces globally.
Here are the top non-coding tech skills you should consider, including the high-demand world of Virtual Assistance:
1. Virtual Assistance (VA)
A Virtual Assistant provides administrative, technical, or creative support to clients remotely. In 2026, this role has evolved beyond just managing emails to include managing digital workflows, customer relations, and social media for global brands.
The Opportunity: Current job listings in Nigeria offer monthly salaries ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦150,000 for local roles, while international remote contracts can pay between $430 and $700 USD per month. You can find these opportunities on platforms like MyJobMag or Indeed Nigeria.
2. UI/UX DesignThis field focuses on how users interact with apps and websites. It’s about creating seamless, visually appealing digital experiences.
The Opportunity: Nigeria's booming fintech and startup scene is constantly looking for product designers to refine their platforms. Global remote roles are also highly accessible for designers with a strong portfolio.
3. Product Management (PM)PMs are the "conductors" of the tech orchestra, bridging the gap between business goals, design, and the engineering team.
The Opportunity: As more Nigerian startups scale, the demand for PMs who can lead product growth is skyrocketing. It remains one of the highest-paying non-coding tech roles in 2026.
4. Data AnalyticsData Analysts turn raw numbers into actionable insights that help businesses make smarter decisions.
The Opportunity: From retail to banking, Nigerian companies are desperate for analysts who can interpret consumer behavior. Many local analysts also work as freelance consultants for international firms.
5. Digital Marketing & Content Strategy
This involves using SEO, social media, and storytelling to build a brand’s online presence.
The Opportunity: Every business now needs to sell online. Whether you work in-house for a Nigerian brand or manage a global agency remotely, the income potential is vast.
