UNICEF has received reports of mobilization campaigns in Iran that include children, and of children working at checkpoints. We call on the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop any recruitment of children. Recruitment and use of children by armed forces or groups is a grave violation of children’s rights.

As needs grow in Iran, UNICEF is supporting efforts to restore access to essential health services for children and families. In coordination with the Ministry of Health, 2 mobile health units, 8 primary healthcare (PHC) tents, and 81 emergency primary healthcare kits have been deployed. Additional supplies—including 2 more PHC tents and 131 emergency kits—are being delivered, helping reach at least 226,000 people. We are also scaling up our psychosocial support to children impacted by the escalation. Children must be protected and have access to the care they urgently need.

As violence continues to escalate in #Lebanon, UNICEF is scaling up its emergency response to support children and families affected by the conflict. With the @EUinLebanon, were delivered today, 45 metric tons of emergency supplies to the @mosalebofficial to help meet urgent needs across shelters and response centres. The shipment includes first aid kits, blankets, winter clothing, mats, water tanks, recreation, and hygiene kits, providing essential support to children and families affected by the ongoing violence. UNICEF continues to work closely with the government and partners to scale up life-saving assistance for those most in need. This weekend’s military escalation in the Middle East marks a dangerous moment for millions of children in the region. UNICEF is deeply concerned by reports of strikes in Iran and across the region, illustrating the grave danger for children. There are reports of schools being struck in Iran, including a girls’ school in Minab in Hormozgan province in southern Iran. Scores of students are reportedly killed and many others injured.
