Fund more officers without funding more staff, and those officers could end up covering staff jobs instead of being on the street. It has happened before. More money for policing must mean more money for more staff. #PoliceStaff

1/ The Scottish Police Authority Board met today to consider the policing budget plan, the estates and digital strategies and the annual workforce report. Thousands of police staff keep Scottish policing running. You would struggle to find them in these papers. 🧵
7/ The digital strategy plans automated triage of 101 and 999 calls and automated replies to cut demand on service centre staff. It says AI is about freeing up time, not replacing people. Worth remembering.

Meanwhile Police Scotland wants to permanently shift complaint investigations out of PSD into divisions. It is going through "internal consultation". Internal consultation is not consultation with you.
