El Niño is back, and it is more powerful than ever.
We must act urgently to limit the impact.
With @WMO, we have set out the potential impact. And called for action.

Humanitarians are there but access must remain safe and open. The funding gap is real, and is costing lives.
The plaudits for four decades of fearless journalism are justified.
But Christiane Amanpour has also consistently kept those in humanitarian need in the public conversation. And held the powerful to account.
Both have saved lives.

The world’s biggest national fundraiser for humanitarian work is the Norwegian Telethon. This year Norway gives massively to NRC and our shelter work for displaced in war zones.
More than 60.000 Norwegians, lead by King Haakon VII, will come with collection boxes to homes in all our 357 counties nationwide.
Businesses have already contributed large sums and tens of thousands now give through phones on VIPPS at #2133.
International solidarity is still strong with those that need it the most.

Killing humanitarians takes a chain of people.
I want them to feel fear, shame, guilt. We demand they are held to account.
Here are three ways to do that.
My speech in Brussels today on protecting humanitarians.
Light moment before getting into the serious business with Commissioner @hadjalahbib in Brussels.
Mes remerciements à Sa Majesté la Reine Mathilde @MonarchieBe pour ce nouvel échange approfondi sur les défis à venir et pour son immense solidarité avec notre travail.

A vest marked “humanitarian” used to work like a shield. Today it can work like a target.
Day 2 of our conference on protecting aid workers: we move from diagnosis to treatment. To tangible solutions. Duty of care, data, psychological protection, accountability.
Acute malnutrition in Afghanistan is at its worst recorded level for this time of year.
4m children. 1.3m pregnant and breastfeeding women. All projected to need treatment in the year ahead.
Without urgent action, conditions will worsen. Fund the response.
