Today, Vice Chief of Staff and Acting Chief of Staff Gen. Christopher LaNeve and leaders from the Army Staff spoke to Army War College students at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.
They discussed the Army’s new operational warfighting guidance How the Army Fights, which instructs Soldiers at every level on what they need to do to stay ahead of the pacing threat.
Gen. LaNeve urged them to take advantage of their time at AWC, become experts in their fields, and stay mentally and physically fit.
“What we have that the pacing threat doesn’t have is the American Soldier -- and the American leader,” he told them.

Acting @SecArmy Adam Telle and Acting Chief of Staff Gen. Chris LaNeve recently spent time with Louisiana State University cadets -- who are among the first to join America's Corps of Cadets, a groundbreaking @SecWar initiative that's expanding the officer commissioning pipeline.
The Army leaders also spent time with cadets at the @LSU vs. @msstate game, and Gen. LaNeve had the honor of firing the pre-game cannon.
Both leaders recognized retired Lt. Col. John Purdy for his 22 years of distinguished service and over two decades as LSU's head men's athletic trainer.
Gen. LaNeve thanked LSU for its long and storied history contributing to the U.S. military, telling cadets "Now you all are part of that history."
The Army must return to its original purpose: controlling and securing land, which is fundamental to human flourishing and fulfillment.
