"The US Cannabis Roundtable specifically noted in one Q3 filing that the organization is lobbying on appropriations bills as they relate to the 'intoxicating hemp loophole.' The Roundtable has been in favor of the ban to get unregulated products off the market."
Latest from 🔵 Portal: The most recent lobbying filings are giving us a glimpse of how the industry is preparing for the hemp fight. Plus, how we're using Portal. @sn_handler with details: punchbowl.news/archive/10212…

The cannabis industry is united in urging Congress to close the Farm Bill loophole. The loophole has undermined state cannabis programs and fueled the proliferation of gas station weed. @POLITICOPro reported recently on our lobbying efforts to turn the page on unregulated intoxicating hemp: "The cannabis industry has stepped up its lobbying strategy in recent months, seeking to counter arguments from hemp advocates’ calls to narrow the restrictions. Cannabis groups largely back federal limits on intoxicating hemp products to eliminate what they argue has become an unfair, unregulated market selling marijuana-like products outside the rules imposed on state-licensed cannabis companies. "The U.S. Cannabis Roundtable, the cannabis industry’s primary advocacy group, was on the Hill in August opposing the hemp industry's campaign. Representatives from cannabis companies including Trulieve, Curaleaf and Ascend Cannabis met with staff from the offices of Reps. Harris, Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.)."

More on last week's Congressional fly-in from @agripulse: "The US Cannabis Roundtable met with members of Congress Wednesday and Thursday to discuss closing the so-called intoxicating hemp loophole from the 2018 farm bill that led to the emergence of psychoactive hemp products like delta-8. The fly-in comes after Congress passed a continuing resolution delaying the intoxicating hemp ban by one month, pushing the effective date from Nov. 12 to Dec. 11. USCR said on X that they were 'disappointed' when the CR with the hemp provision passed the Senate back in August. USCR met with 26 Republican and Democratic House offices, including members from leadership, the House Rules Committee and the Freedom Caucus. House Freedom Caucus Leader Andy Harris, R-Md., supports the intoxicating hemp ban, often referring disparagingly to 'gas station weed.'" agri-pulse.com/articles/2520…

“The US Cannabis Roundtable is grateful for the actions of the Trump Administration in granting relief in these cases,” said @MangoneDavid, SVP of Government Relations & Policy for the US Cannabis Roundtable. “Both cases highlight the continuing conflict between federal and state cannabis laws, even as most states have legalized cannabis in some form. It was an honor to support @weldon_angelos in this matter, and we remain committed to securing federal reform to end needless and unjust incarceration for cannabis offenses.” einpresswire.com/article/940…

POLITICO highlighted some meetings from our recent fly-in: "The US Cannabis Roundtable was on the Hill this week expressing opposition to a loophole created by the 2018 farm bill that allowed the sale of some hemp-derived products. Congress voted to close that loophole last year, but Trump and hemp industry lobbyists persuaded Senate leaders this summer to delay implementation of the ban until mid-December. Companies including @Trulieve, @Curaleaf_Inc and @AscendHoldings met with staff from the offices of Reps. Andy Harris (R-Md.), Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.)" politico.com/newsletters/pol…

Today, the Senate voted to delay the closure of the intoxicating hemp loophole. While we were disappointed, we are grateful to every senator who stood up for public health and consumer safety. We are confident that Congress will ultimately get it right.

Ted Budd digging in on his hemp amendment. There’s been very little movement toward an agreement to finish up today
Why do unregulated intoxicating edibles need to be available at gas stations for CMS to continue studying hemp-derived pain relief? Why should we allow these products on shelves for one more day when someone could make a decision that will alter their future by buying them?

Sen. Budd says he think he has the votes to pass his hemp products amendment stripping out a delay to the ban (which is likely to be at 50-vote threshold). He says if leadership had the votes to beat it they would have already held the vote Sen. Kennedy says he supports it and asked VP Vance if he used hemp at Yale and didn't get a straight answer

"I think he's been misinformed by his staff." Sen. Budd says President Trump is misinformed in his push to delay a federal ban on some types of hemp. He has an amendment to get rid of the delay. @SenTedBuddNC's interview with @TimBoyumTV airs tonight at 7 on @NCCapTonight. #ncpol

Hemp drama: Sen. Budd not backing off his amendment to strip the 30-day extension for hemp/thc ban. The White House told senators just now that this is the last delay they’ll request. Budd says he’s fine discussing how to help farmers and veterans but “there's not a lot of discussion when it comes to protecting our kids from these addiction” He says he’s “been asked by lots of people to stand down” but doesn’t so I d like he’s not going to
