๐จ Roy Keane on Manchester United keeping Michael Carrick:
โYouโve just been humiliated by Bournemouth at Old Trafford. Youโre near the relegation places, havenโt won in eight league games, and the people running the club decide to carry on as normal.
Carry on with what? What exactly are we protecting?
I keep hearing that Michael Carrick cares deeply about United. Of course he does. He played here, won trophies. Nobodyโs questioning that.
But since when did loving Manchester United qualify you to manage Manchester United?
There are 70,000 people at Old Trafford who love the club. Some have watched this rubbish for years. Maybe give one of them the job.
Iโve said from the beginning I didnโt believe Michael was the right man. Thatโs not personal. But this is Manchester United, not a job you hand somebody because heโs a nice fella.
And the people above him are an even bigger problem.
Iโll tell you what I imagine those meetings are like.
Somebody walks in after Bournemouth and asks, โRight, what are we doing about the manager?โ
Another fella says, โWell, the supporters were still applauding him.โ
So what?
They were applauding a former player who gave years to the club. They werenโt celebrating getting battered by Bournemouth.
But I wouldnโt put it past this lot to think, โThe crowd still likes Michael. Maybe we can get another week out of him.โ
Thatโs the level of leadership weโre dealing with.
And now theyโre sending him to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are better than Bournemouth. Theyโll punish you if you turn up like that again.
What bothers me is that the people running United seem to have started negotiating how badly they can afford to lose.
I can almost hear it.
โMichael, listen. We know Chelsea are a good team. Weโre not expecting miracles. Just make sure it isnโt another humiliation.โ
And somebody says, โIf we lose 1-0, at least we can call it an improvement.โ
An improvement?
Youโre Manchester United!
When I was there, if somebody came into our dressing room suggesting a 1-0 defeat was respectable, heโd have been told to get out.
We lost matches. We got beaten by better teams. But you went into every match believing you could win. That was the minimum.
Now the people making decisions seem to be hoping the next defeat doesnโt make headlines for too long.
Thatโs not ambition. Thatโs damage limitation.
Look at the supporters travelling to Stamford Bridge, spending their money, taking time away from their families. Theyโll still turn up believing United can win. Theyโll sing and demand that the players fight for every ball.
How can the supporters have more belief in Manchester United than the people paid to run it?
And donโt tell me sacking another manager wonโt solve everything. Of course it wonโt. Recruitment has been poor, leadership has been poor, and too many players have got away with unacceptable performances.
But you donโt keep making the wrong decision because youโve made wrong decisions before.
If Michael isnโt the right man, make a decision. If you believe he is, explain why. Show some leadership.
Instead theyโre hiding behind a man who served the club brilliantly as a player, leaving him to face the cameras while everybody else disappears.
I donโt feel sorry for him. I only feel sorry for the supporters.
Because the frightening thing about United isnโt that theyโre losing matches.
Itโs that the people in charge are starting to behave as though losing is perfectly normal.โ

๐จ๐ฃ๏ธ| Jamie Carragher on Manchester Unitedโs decision to keep Michael Carrick
โI said it on Sunday night after Bournemouth and Iโll say it again now: it was.. or it would have been the right decision to part ways, for Michael Carrick as much as for Manchester United.โ
โ Nothing has changed because theyโve decided to keep him. That performance was abject โ 3-0 at home, another in a long line of them โ and the situation in that dressing room is toxic.โ
โYouโve got a manager who dropped his captain, didnโt bring him on, and now has to walk back into Carrington and face him. Itโs untenable.โ
โCarrickโs a brilliant lad, a proper Manchester United man, and nobody wants to see him go through this. But keeping him because heโs a club legend or because the fans sang his name doesnโt change the reality.โ
โThis club is one of the biggest in the world and theyโre hovering above the relegation zone with one win in the league. The players arenโt running, the standards have gone, and he hasnโt got the tools or the authority to fix it.โ
โIโve watched this cycle for years: manager comes in, it looks okay for a bit, then it collapses, the dressing room turns, and they sack him. Doing nothing now just delays the inevitable and makes it worse for everyone โ especially Carrick.โ
โHe doesnโt want to be sat in that dugout with that group. They should have put him out of his misery. Instead theyโre sending him to Chelsea hoping for a miracle. It doesnโt work like that. Loyalty is fine, but results matter more at a club like Manchester Unitedโ

Dalot has survived 8 good seasons at Manchester United and has around 87% of appearances as a starter
That alone should tell you everything about this club ๐
Sir Alex Ferguson gave us an iconic quote that still stands today.
He said, โAttack wins you games, defence wins you titles.โ The reason Arsenal have been so good for years now is mainly because they have built a strong defence and defensive midfield, which helps them control the game and allows their attack to win games.
This is exactly what Manchester United have been lacking for years now.

First time seeing this angle in my life. Watch closely how Valdes tried messing with Ronaldo before the penalty kick and found outโฆ
He was a menace to Barcelona and you dare not mess with him in such manner ๐
