Tell me you’ve never opened the new iPhone Duo without telling me. It doesn’t just fall open like a flip phone.
Replying to @ZombieHedgehog_
opening and closing it in a manner no human would ever do, smoothly, with even pressure along the entire length. Normal people snap it open and closed with 2 fingers.
Guys I just went to the Apple Store to play with the Duo and I legit do not understand any of the hate. It’s so sick.
If I’m Claude then who is ChatGPT @writeclimbrun @pop_tartlet
This is a good and commonly touted point, but I’ve come to disagree with it most of the time.
Equity comp in a small business typically falls short of what an employee really wants. It sounds cool on paper, but once they realize their ownership is not liquid, has no voting control, and is statistically unlikely to result in any meaningful exit value, it loses its glamor real fast.
In many cases, employees are much happier with a cash bonus.

Agreed! And after a while, if you think cash comp alone will be enough, you are wrong
They need an equity incentive or they will leave
No reason to exhaust themselves running your business & they get nothing at the backend
Word to the wise when acquiring a small business: if you are not going to operate it yourself, you need to make sure the operator is compensated on the high end of fair. Anyone who is skilled and motivated enough to run it well will quickly sniff it out if they’re doing all the work and you’re making all the money.

It’s Monday morning at your W-2 job. You’re about to make a presentation to the leadership team. You’ve been preparing for weeks for this moment, when suddenly your phone starts blowing up….
It’s Javier, the foreman of your mowing crew from the boring side-hustle landscape biz you own. “Hey boss, two of my guys didn’t show today. Mrs. Holder is pissed because we couldn’t get to her last week, and she has family coming over tonight. But we also have to finish the apartment complex today or else we are gonna lose that contract.”
Before you can even reply, a text comes in from your planting crew lead. It’s a picture. They tried to back the trailer into a customer’s driveway, but smashed into a brick mailbox and knocked it over. Oh, and the dump trailer door won’t open now either.
Now you’re mad, but Javier is waiting on a response still. You tell him you’ll call him back. An email notification comes through from Google Business Profile. “A customer has left you a review. Click to respond.”
Curiosity gets the best of you, so you open the link to read the review. 1 star. Angela said: “customer service is horrible! I remember when I could call this place and a real person would answer the phone! Apparently the new owner thinks people would rather talk to an AI assistant.”
Your presentation starts in 5 minutes.
If you work a W2 job and don't have a boring business that pays you $5k-$10k a month on top of your salary...
I got you.
Here are 9 boring businesses for sale today (& where to buy them):
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The "cash flow" figures are Seller's Discretionary Earnings (SDE) including seller compensation for running the business; these service businesses are not passive side income atop a W2 salary and require active management or added costs that reduce net returns.

When my wife receives pictures of my tweets from her friends that’s when I know I’ve broken containment too far and need to go anon again
Lawn care and landscaping. The poster child for $10k a month in passive income.

Extremely ironic to use the phrase “holier-than-thou” when criticizing someone else’s display of faith.
The scriptures are literally full of stories comparing Christ’s sacrifice to ordinary things. It’s not sacrilege; it’s the exact way Jesus taught the gospel.
But sure let’s teach 19 year old kids that the thing their life revolves around isn’t important and they shouldn’t even think of using Jesus to respond to disappointments.

This is a narrative that is completely false. No, there should not have been a 10-second runoff after the blocked FG.
HOWEVER
UCF spiked the ball on first down when the clock was already stopped. By rule, that is intentional grounding with a 10-yard penalty, loss of down, and 10 second runoff. Would have resulted in OT. Refs inexplicably missed it.

The game shouldn’t have even been in overtime according to the rules big dawg.
So is the national media going to talk about this PI non-call on the final play for the next week too?
