βΌοΈCritical analysis: Fulham 2β3 Chelsea
π΅ What Chelsea did well
1. The attacking structure is already promising a dangerous front line around Cole Palmer, JoΓ£o Pedro and Morgan Rogers.
2. Palmer looked back to his best. This was arguably the biggest positive. Palmer wasn't simply scoring; he was influencing the entire attack, finding JoΓ£o Pedro early and creating opportunities consistently.
3. Chelsea showed resilience. Fulham pulled the game back to 3β2 and put Chelsea under serious pressure late on.
4. Alonso's attacking ideas are visible. There was a clear intention to attack quickly and exploit spaces behind Fulham's aggressive defensive structure.
β οΈ What needs fixing
1. Robert SΓ‘nchez is the biggest concern.
2. Chelsea still look too vulnerable defensively
3. Game management must improve. At 3β1, Chelsea should have been able to kill the game.
4. Discipline remains a concern
Chelsea cannot afford to repeat the indiscipline that affected them last season.
β Overall verdict
Attack: 9/10
Midfield: 7.5/10
Defence: 6/10
Goalkeeping: 4/10
Game management: 6.5/10
Overall: 7.5/10
The most encouraging thing isn't simply that Chelsea won. It's how dangerous the attack already looks under Alonso.
But the warning is equally clear: Chelsea cannot rely on Palmer, JoΓ£o Pedro and Rogers to outscore every problem.
If Alonso can tighten the defence and solve the goalkeeping issue, this Chelsea side has the attacking quality to compete seriously for a top-four place.
