As a woman and a long-time lover of #BiggBossTelugu, I’ve never felt this disturbed watching the show. Saturday’s episode (Oct 31) left me in deep shock, and we can’t stay silent. What aired: In the footage shown to @Thrigun_Aactor, Rohit described how he’d beat him: “cane ki oil posi,” a thin cane, oiled, hitting hard. Varshini escalated it: if it were up to her, “the cane will vanish,” meaning pushed in until it disappears. Mukesh followed with “push and pull,” acting it out with gestures, while the others laughed. These were explicit, vulgar remarks about a fellow contestant, not strategy or banter. And it aired as a “gift video.” In the same episode, Shiv was called a “mediator.” Rohit said he’d use a worse word, Sudheer said it starts with “B,” and Varshini signalled “P.” When @iamnagarjuna sir asked what they meant, no one would say. Later, the words became “buffoon” and “puppet.” If you can’t say a word in front of the host, you already know what it meant. Why the laughter matters: Laughing along isn’t harmless. In a group, laughter is approval: it tells the speaker this is acceptable and invites the next, worse remark. Rohit led it, Varshini and Mukesh built on it, and Sudheer and Jhansi laughed through it. Not everyone is equally responsible, but no one stopped it. The gender double standard: If even half of this had been said about a woman, the show would have stopped everything, and rightly so. Because the target was a man, it played as a “gift video” and moved on. Society already treats violence against men as something to joke about: “he’s a man, he can take it.” That’s exactly why male victims stay silent. Violent and sexual threats against men are abuse too. The message about competitive women: As a woman, Rohit’s behaviour towards Debjani chilled me: gestures mimicking pulling her hair, and talk of a competitive woman needing to be dragged and beaten. This tells every young viewer that a woman who competes with a man deserves to be put in her place physically. Ambition in a woman is not a provocation. That message has no place on a family show. This is a pattern: Rohit already faces a formal JioHotstar complaint over body-shaming and threats, and has repeatedly threatened Trigun with violence outside the house. Warnings haven’t changed the behaviour. What we should be asking for ✅ An UNCONDITIONAL apology from Rohit, Varshini, Mukesh, Sudheer and Jhansi, with no “it was a joke” and no renaming the words ✅ Formal warnings from @StarMaa, @JioHotstar and @EndemolShineIND, and a clear zero-tolerance line on violent or sexual threats against ANY contestant, man or woman ✅ @iamnagarjuna sir, please address this on Sunday’s episode and make sure those apologies happen, inside or outside the house I love this show.
