CD Projekt Red has taken down the Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod via DMCA This is due to modder LukeRoss locking the mod behind a $10 subscription. CDPR reportedly asked LukeRoss to make the mod free, he refused and deleted it instead. LukeRoss generates 20K USD monthly from paid mods

My dad is an OG Usenet guy who’s been posting since the 80s. He taught me this esoteric computer wisdom: “Never put identifying information online. Weird people will do weird things with it.” To this day, I’m deeply confused about why normies feel so comfortable broadcasting themselves to the entire planet. Why would anyone ever assume that this is a safe thing to do? Somehow despite being chronically online, they never developed online survival skills, unlike early computer users like my dad
