Daysi González is a political consultant who works on campaigns to elect Democrats across the country. She is also one of an estimated 200,000 Salvadorans whose legal immigration status is set to expire on September 9th—and one of about a million immigrants in the widening gyre of the Trump Administration’s delegalization drive. Her mentor and boss, Chuck Rocha, has been trying to pull all the strings he can to help her stay in the U.S. “You mean I can’t call a senator? I can’t call the chairman of the Hispanic Caucus and just fix this shit?” he said. González is planning to go back to El Salvador—a place where she has few relatives left, and where, although Rocha has offered to keep her as a remote worker, she’s not sure she’ll be able to keep her job. Jesus Rodríguez talks to her about her self-deportation: newyorker.com/news/the-lede/…

Most of Trump’s Hispanic gains came from vote-switching. But nearly 9/10 of those switchers wouldn't fit the campaign criteria for a persuasion target. What we saw in 2024, and why more people should be talking about the Steitz Voter...

ICE fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during a Houston enforcement operation. His family says he was a hardworking father on his way to work. This is a deadly pattern at DHS: no transparency, no oversight, no accountability. We demand an independent investigation.

The Supreme Court just affirmed what we've always known: if you're born in America, you're an American. The 14th Amendment has guaranteed that for more than 150 years, and no executive order can undo it. We’ll continue to fight for the safety and dignity of our communities.
