Thinking of Nigel Cox today on his anniversary. Always at my book selling shoulder. Xxx

❤️

True! Could have done with an attribution perhaps 🥹

Imagine our surprise when one of our customers shared a photo of our paper bag text ( written by Nigel Cox) blown up on a shop window in Chicago’s @citylit_books

THIS MIGHT BE IT!! Thank you Giselle, you're a star 🌟

One last book detective question for you all... Does a picture book that has the line "Captain Caster keeps going faster" ring any bells? Probably published about 30 years ago. Not Captain Najork, but definitely pirate adjacent

Not at the moment, but we have lots on order! Give us a call if you want us to put a copy aside when it gets in.

YOU ARE A GENIUS! thank you, our lovely customers will be so happy!

Book detectives! More mysteries afoot... Can anyone remember an 80's/90's picture book about a naughty/spoiled little girl (possibly named Caroline) with the refrain "sweet little (name), lovely little (name)..." Said "Caroline" is allowed to stay up late & eat luxurious cakes.

This could be it! We will ask our customer, and let you know! Thanks for your excellent detective work! 🕵️‍♀️

😂

This sounds really promising! Thank you, we think you might be onto something here. Will do some extra research

@FreyaDalySad any ideas, children's book genius? (HLB)

Book detectives, help us out! We have a lovely customer looking for a picture book, published between 95 & 03, with Shaun Tan Style/sepia illustrations, featuring a scene where a family drive to the beach & a mysterious island rises from the waves.... any clues appreciated!

Michael Rosen's Sad Book. Absolutely no contest.

Tove Jansson has the best story cycles, after Elizabeth Strout. The Summer Book is brilliant. George Saunders's stories aren't connected but feel like it...

See if you can find a copy of the Blue Bear book somewhere! It's such a gem and would be amazing to read aloud!

The Moomintroll books, The 13 & 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear, The Knife of Never Letting Go, Lockwood & Co, When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead, Holes by Louis Sachar and I second The Northern Lights series! Could also start the Discworld series? (Hera, Little Unity)

We just got our copies of the stunningly beautiful bilingual board game Kaupapa! Limited copies on our website. unitybooksauckland.co.nz/kid…

This is happening Saturday.
