In every war ever fought, over half the wounds are to the limbs. So the soldier’s most vital ally is the orthopaedic surgeon, in uniform or out of it. At MPIOACON 2026 in #Gwalior, I told surgeons from across India and abroad: “Doctor Bhagwan ka doosra roop hota hai.” They restore the one thing that defines freedom: movement. Subedar Hokato Hotozhe Sema, Arjuna Awardee & AVSM, lost a leg to a landmine, came back to win #Paralympic bronze, and is now world No 1 in shot put. Surgeons, rehab and will made that possible. My four asks of the profession: · Prevention and the first hour · Indian implants, made in India · Humanity that no machine replaces · Joint military–civil research on anonymised soldier data Movement is Life. At 50, the Fighting Fourteen is not looking back. It is marching ahead with élan. As Honorary Colonel of the Regiment, I spent a day with 14 Mechanised Infantry (16 JAK Rifles) ahead of their Golden Jubilee. I came early so the unit could own its celebration. My message: Team. Traditions. Training. Technology. Soldiers here are fabricating Drone and counter-drone solutions of their own. Nana Patekar did not come to Rajouri as a celebrity. He came as one of us, to sit with families whose homes and lives were shattered by Pakistani shelling during #OperationSindoor. He listened and he comforted. He quietly helped. On 24 Sep 2025, on his way back, he called on me at Army House. He was full of warmth and concern for the Army and spoke with great respect of our soldiers’ efforts. And then he said, “Any time, anywhere, any thing you need, Nana is always there for the Army.” He meant every word. The Army has lost a true friend, and the nation a rare human being. 88 hours of execution. Years of preparation by the Nation. In the wars ahead, Tech Warriors will play a pivotal role. #OperationSindoor That was my message to 3,500+ graduands, parents & faculty at the 7th Convocation, @VITBhopal: Vidya + Udyam = Balam. A good conversation with Ms Kadhambari S Viswanathan on life, the profession and the generation next. The questions from Gen Z were sharp and thought-provoking. One thought I left with the young: the #IndianArmy soldier serves, but his family bears the greater sacrifice, often alone 9–10 months a year. Honour them. My Compliments for the STARS Initiative: one boy and one girl topper from a government school in each MP district study free at VIT.
